It's out of range of a larger portion of Iran's ballistic missiles than other ones would be. It's only about 600 miles from the border, so you could hypothetically fly sorties from it into Iran with F-35s and only need limited aerial refueling. It's a lot simpler than attacking from Diego Garcia.
It'd be one of the better places for doing it from. I don't think you could get enough sorties out of it to actually do much to Iran, but maybe if they get a few other places to launch strikes from. All of that of course assumes this is true, which it might not be.
