What happened in 2000 in Florida was quite the debacle yea. It's what prompted their state government to overhaul how they do their elections so nothing like that can happen again. That overhaul was a resounding success, and is why their elections run so smooth despite the size of their state.
It's also why I said that the rest of the country should run their elections as Florida does now, not how they did in 2000.

Yes if Soviet nuclear engineers had reformed their practices after a disaster 50 years ago, raising their standards to the highest in the industry and ensuring something like that would never happen again, I would trust them with the project. You seem to think states that have never had a problem should copy someone who has managed to go six elections without a major fuckup. Florida isn't a convincing reason to move away from the status quo of every state handling elections in the manner of their own choosing.
California and New York etc are rife with problems. They're just given less exposure due to the bias in the liberal media.
The difference with Florida is that it's issues, rightfully so, where exposed and the state forced to be given an overhaul. Whereas the corruption in San Francisco and NYC is left to fester.
