The farmers rely on tools, tractors, etc. to produce those foods domestically; those costs go up, if only because parts get more expensive and labor becomes more expensive due to the general cost of living increase from non-domestic goods. Those farmers rely on truckers, who experience the same cost increases, and probably additional cost increases due to insurance going up (since parts and labor are also going up). There’s a million other things that couple domestic production to the global market, and we pay for the tariffs at every link in that chain.
There are essentially two options

We continue a slow decline as everything moves to other markets and inflation destroys anything we've managed to build or save
option two
We fundamentally change the way things operate which means pain now but with the possibility of better times ahead for our generation and subsequent generations.
