Wouldn't surprise me if Trump warned other countries that if they try to make deals with China then Trump will raise their tariffs again, in order to put worldwide pressure on China.

he said his plan. He's going to put tariffs on countries that dont negotiate. At the start, no one was negotiating, so everyone got a tariff. Then some of them came to the table. They get delays. China isn't allowed to negotiate. Their tariffs are a trade war blow. What will make that blow devastating is when other poorer nations get in line to be america's new china, offering anything trump wants. IF they don't then tariffs come back. Maybe they give some of what he wants and get lessened tariffs.
There's going to be tough talk for the duration. Trump and his team will always insist theyre going to tariff the world and they're in it to tear everything down because they need to show the other nations trump supporter reactions. Trump is not losing his base with his moves. They have no good reason to think trump will cave. After the first deal gets finalized there will be material proof that the trump-deal is real and everyone will be clamoring to get the 2nd best deal. Except china, who can't.
