The US primarily exports basedbeans to China, which China has already replaced from Russia instead. Trump is going to have to bail out onions farmers AGAIN, like he did in his first term, because their business exporting to China has collapsed overnight.

What do you think a tariff is? It's an import tax on goods that are coming into your country. The government requires the import tax be paid to them before they will release the goods. That import tax is then passed on to you in increased goods prices. You pay the tariff indirectly through increased goods prices.

China's exports are extremely diversified. They have 15% of their trade with the US. Tariffs hurt but not nearly as much as Trump wishes they did. It's also going to seriously harm the US, stores like Walmart sell goods almost exclusively from China and it will near enough collapse their business.

No its not. You're thinking of a import duty. A tarriff is paid by the foreigner attempting to ship goods into the US. Its based on the sales price so raising the price just increases the tariff. In doing so the forign good become economically noncompetitive and will just rot on the shelf as consumers pass it by for better alternatives. The only competitive advantage chinkslop has ever had was low cost. Its never been quality or reliability thats their selling point. By raising prices they loses the one thing that made their junk attractive to the consumer.
