I really dont get it. Theres a massive demand for drugs and people are going to want to to do them. They should decriminalized most or all of them and heavily regulate it.
1. Illegal drugs are a multi billion dollar industry that instead of that money going to criminals it could go to both local and federal taxes for better or worse.
2. If drugs are both legal and easier to buy darknet sales of drugs evaporate or gets shrunk severely and (hopefully) makes its easier to go after Child Porn makers and distributors since there will be less traffic and hopefully easier to find them.
3. You can stop fucking up south american countries from things like the cartels so people stop wanting to flee to the US due to how fucked up it is down there.
Obviously, you might need some sort of rehab drug system like the euros do it for the edge cases who ruin good things for everyone.

The right drugs can introduce some real beauty and feeling into your life though, even through just one good use, any art a human can create is ugly compared to the peak beauty you can potentially see, that is impossible to communicate otherwise because colors that vibrant, geometry that looks like that etc. just does not exist in real life, it is an organic part of nature we don't normally see, seeing it makes everything else in your real life more beautiful. If I had seen something like that in my 20's I would be in a completely different place right now because all of my fear to act would be gone ,because that thing everyone lives their life terrified of already felt like it happened to me and I lived through it, and my interest in everything has grown exponentially because I now understand intuitively how everything I wasn't interested before is connected to everything else I was interested in, and teaches me more about everything else and furthering my understanding and the quality of my mental foundation. It is impossible to cause me to psychologically fall apart now, any situation I get into is fairly tame in comparison.
