One thing I noticed (from actually reading their work) was that there was a strong desire to create a simplification of the world so that religion was blamed as the main culprit first and foremost. This was re-framing the nonwhite migration into a place like Britain as the "Islamification" of Britain. Even guys like Daniel Dennet had in one of his books that the Israel-Palestine conflict came down to religion. It's not an accident that they all had the exact same conclusion and one dimensional arguments while trying to tear down religion.

And it's not like I'd deny that it's a factor. Obviously there people do kill each other over religious differences. But re-framing things in this way completely negates the other factors and issues.
