Why are my countrymen so afraid of latin america?

Growing up I was taught latin america = dangerous death zone.

Sorry but having been all over latin america I have to disagree. It's actually really beautiful.

Americans look at pic related and screech in fear "NO I'LL NEVER GO THERE!!!!" Fine... your loss.

The older I get the more I realize ignorance is a disease and a public health crisis.

Argentina is quite nice. No black people.

most people's knowledge of latin america comes from the refugees escaping the civil wars and drug cartels
the ones with safe countries will come to america sometimes but not usually

that's because i'm huwhite and don't speak spanish, if there is a local i know irl then it's okay, otherwise you asking for it

t. i actually traveled a lot

I'm white and speak spanish only from high school and get around just fine. What countries are you afraid of? There's so many ultra safe places even in "Dangerous" countries.

Are you telling me you're afraid of Floripa or Curitaba or BH or BA or montevideo or cusco or arequipa or cuenca or Merida or San Juan?

I'm in one of the better ones, by a stretch, and I wouldn't recommend moving here unless you can actually speak the language and integrate. You also need to have a vibe that inspires respect, otherwise good luck walking around without security. America is a wild continent, always has been.

Puerto Rico is super safe. I've been all over. Even in shitty barrios in SJ and Ponce and only once felt a bit on edge.

Why does everyone assume its fear when White people don't want to go to shitskin zones? We have everything anon, and if we want to go there, well spend our time at a resort with other Whites. I have no desire to trudge around some 3rd world shithole full of shitskins with nothing to do. Everything worth doing there is in the resort zones. Parachuting into one of those giant caves? Sounds good. Walking around some mountain village with nothing to offer me? I'm good man.

We have everything I can go to walmart, home depot, and McDonalds all within a 15 minute drive

Why the fuck would I ever want to go to pic related?!?!

Cusco.jpg - 1920x1080, 334.62K

No, I mean we have everything. Whites have territory all the way from tropical beaches to snowy mountain peaks. We have everything, get it?

Shows me an old church surrounded by a favela

Yeah, fuck off. Again, I'll go parachuting in one of those giant caves, but I'd get bored with that in about an hour. If I want to go to a true cathedral, I'll go to Notre Dame.

reddit spacing

you are chinese

Simply repeating his question and posting a picture isn't answering it. Why should a White American give a single shit about traveling to some shitskin city? It's not like it holds any historical or ancestral value to us. I'm betting you're an assblasted latino and there's nothing more to it.

Surrounded by a favela

Lmfao cusco is not dangerous at all. So many more dangerous US cities than cusco.

We have all the nature

Yes, USA is beautiful and a prime destination for camping and road trips. But there's also so many beautiful places the USA doesn't have, so many wonderful towns and cities, so many amazing cultures and peoples.

CUESTA.jpg - 789x526, 114.18K

He thinks I mean dangerous when I say favela

I don't give a fuck about it's crime rate anon. Look at it, it's fucking garbage. What the fuck would I do there except walk around that old church or try not to step in shit or God knows what else. Certain parts of Mexico don't have good plumbing so there's actual shit on the streets.

Amazing cultures and peoples

I truly do not give a fuck about shitskins cultures man, I really fucking don't.

The fascination with travelling comes from a severance with one's native soil.
As the other anon said why would he even care about seeing foreigners and old buildings. I believe America has enough natural beauty for those who care about it without them needing to travel abroad to see other things.
if you want to talk to subhumans or see how they live. You can do it in any city near your location.

Why should a White American give a single shit about traveling to some shitskin city

Because you want to experience the world before you die. Because there's value in visiting beauty and seeing new things. Why should I visit Yellowstone or Badlands or North Cascades? Because I love beauty and the awe I feel camping in the wilderness. It's the same impulse.

If your day to day life is so devoid of meaning you end up unironically enjoying latin America you should kill yourself for wasting your luck of being born there and having the money to squander on pointless travelling

It's fucking garbage

No it's not. Have you ever walked around US cities and had to dodge shit and trash and urban decay and homeless lol

Culture bad!!! Aren't I based le fellow Anon Babbletards???

That's just ignorance. I could just as easily use your arguments against seeing pretty cities anywhere, not just LatAm.

I believe America has enough natural beauty for those who care about it without them needing to travel abroad to see other things.

I've done many roadtrips across the US visiting state and national parks and yes our beauty is our greatest asset if you love the outdoors. That in no way means we have everything or that other countries have nothing I want to experience (nature or city wise)

The fascination with travelling comes from a severance with one's native soil.

I appreciate the US the more I travel not in a "Wow these places suck" way but in a "Being exposed to other places helps me understand myself" way.

Couldn't you say this about travelling in the USA? If somebody lives in Delaware should they kill themselves if they enjoy visiting Western national parks? Did they squander their life because they aren't happy enough in Delaware?

You sound like the leftist women that wanted to prove the Middle East was safe , Asia was safe , Africa was safe , South America was safe and were raped and murdered. Any where is unsafe if your a goon , you sound like a goon.

The world can be unsafe but it's less dangerous than most Americans think. I've had people tell me to be careful about cartels when I'm in Argentina lol

Yeah see, a mountain I can go to. Id hike that bitch all day. And I never said our inner cities don't have similar problems, but there's a standard we have above that simply by being who we are.
I don't give a fuck about being "based" dude, I mean that. I do not care about their culture, they can have it over there. I have no interest in seeing it, from what I've already seen of them here I don't need to go down there to see more.
Get it through your head man: fuck the 3rd world.

I'm not sure where Delaware is. And I said wasting luck and squander money not their lives.
They should not kill themselves for enjoying the beauty of the nation of their ancestors.
If you need to travel to learn about yourself the problem is on you and your limited capacity for introspection and self reflection. Don't project it on us.
If you are traveling for "experiences" "adventuring" and other such Instagram bullshit you are indeed the kind of moron advertisment works for. Ideally you'd be spending your resources securing capital and a home where to raise a family. Any distraction from that goal is a Jewish plot to lower white birthrates. I'm not even white mind you

Advertisment works in*

They sent all their criminals to America.

A mountain I can go to

There are no mountain formations like what you get in the Guyanas in the US. Iguazu BTFOs Niagra. Atacama is a totally different feel than the Mojave or sonora or Chihuahuan.

but there's a standard we have above that simply by being who we are.

This is so retarded. So many cities in the world that put america's best cities to shame lol

for fun

there was even a naturally occuring plant that grew meth, why whites remembered how to recreate it, but didn't save it from atlantis

Yes, I said that already, a mountain I would visit, while staying in a resort hahaha.
IM RACIST. You're telling a racist White man about shitskins cities and expecting to get anywhere. What is your goal here? I'm not going to do it man hahaha, ill stay in a resort but I just have no interest in going to shitskin zones to walk around and look at shitskins being shitskins. Fuck off.

Don't tell them, let them still think the US is the best country on earth so they don't move when China destroy them.

I'm not sure where Delaware is

It's a tiny little mid-atlantic state with little to no natural beauty besides some basic batch marshland. Should somebody form Delaware kill themselves for visiting national parks in other states none of their ancestors have ever lived in?

If you need to travel to learn about yourself the problem is on you and your limited capacity for introspection and self reflection.

That's like saying "if you need to read to learn about yourself you're retarded" or "If you need to meet other people to learn about yourself you're retarded" obviously the more you experience of the world the more you will learn about yourself. You could be like Kant and never leave your little city and still be super smart, but I'm sure if Kant travelled he's learn things, he certainly read a lot of travelogues and was interested. It's almost like saying "History is retarded" or something.

If you are traveling for "experiences" "adventuring" and other such Instagram bullshit

I'm not. I don't even have an instagram and the only people who ever know about my travels are family who ask and some friends who sometimes ask for advice where to visit.

Ideally you'd be spending your resources securing capital

Not a problem. I can work remote anywhere.

and a home where to raise a family.

How does travelling affect that?

There's no resorts by Roraima. You need to hire local native tribes to climb it takes about 3 days, all three days are days you won't be in a resort.

I wouldn't live any further south than the Carolinas. Too fucking hot.

you think the south pole is hot?

You are putting words in my mouth. If looking at a mountain or at brown people teaches you something about yourself congratulations I personally learnt the most through writing and through having arguments as well as on my night job.

History is retarded

Strawman

I can work remote

So? The money you are spending on travelling is not coming back regardless of how much you make, refer to my previous point about advertising working on you.

How does travelling affect that?

Unless you go for the strategy of that french guy of impregnating Africans the money you spend on luxury goods (travelling itself is a luxury) is not money you spend on your own blood or furthering or improving your own community. Refer back to arguments about the severance with your own blood and soil.
To make it easier on my point imagine if instead of traveling we were discussing brothels (another luxury good that does not further anything but wanton consumption)

There's a lot of land between Georgia and the South Pole last I looked.

You can't learn anything about yourself by being thrown into a new situation and culture

This is retarded. I'm not even sure why you're arguing this it's as retarded as saying you can't learn by reading about history. History is basically travelling in time and place.

So? The money you are spending on travelling is not coming back regardless of how much you make

Except I save more money traveling than I do living in the US lol (usually) and the times I don't it's worth it. I don't really spend money on things so it's not an issue for me

To make it easier on my point imagine if instead of traveling we were discussing brothels

So if I live in Wyoming it's good to camp in Yellowstone. But If I live in Texas it's evil to camp Yellowstone because I have no connection to it? WTF argument is that. Not at all relatable to brothels. You can travel to Disneyland and it will be less enriching than travelling to a foreign city and trying to embed yourself in it. But I can think of ways brothels could be interesting. Maybe having to navigate the norms around it, having to talk to the girl in your broken attempts at her language, asking her what it's like being a whore in that city, what are some crazy stories she has? IDK I've never fucked in a brothel but I bet you can learn more about the world doing it than sitting on your ass driving to the local walmart every day.

Patagonia colder than the carolinas. So is NZ, parts of southern africa, tasmania, etc.

As the West deteriorates, Americans and Western Europeans with balls will have to think about other places to live.
Great places to live include Eastern Europe, Russia, Southeast Asia, and China.

You're lecturing me on how safe my hellhole is? Hint: we cook the statistics so tourists won't stop coming. As a tourist, you never left the kosher 'barrios'. When you move here, you actually have to move somewhere and live. There's a reason why the gringos congregate in certain gated communities. Locals will not respect you if you are a pussy, or if you can't speak spanish.

I can speak spanish well enough and I always pick up a lot when I'm in LatAm. PR just didn't feel that unsafe to me. Even at night in "bad" barrios. Maybe not the worst ghettos but not touristy areas. There was one time at night I was in some shitty barrio in Ponce and realized I should GTFO but that was the one time I felt iffy in PR.

History is interesting and certainly important, but not a field of study where you learn about yourself at least not for common people.
I never said evil. A pajeet fresh off the boat should not be setting foot in Yellowstone. An American born to sn American family (3 generations at least) visiting another part of America is perfectly fine.
The issue is not the ammount of money, unless you can demonstrate how engaging in hedonistic travels further your family and race it remains a waste of time and money.
You don't need to go to the brothel to talk to a whore, we are talking and no one has moved. You can apply the same to any other person in the world. I can assure you there is little to learn from a whore in a brothel.
Ultimately you learn about yourself from others and your neighbour or a stranger on a bus is as useful to that purpose as a third worlder
I'm off to sleep. Have a good night

Like I said, we're among the best by a stretch. But, even then, no white boy should move here if he doesn't have a proper set of cojones and a willingness to learn spanish. Putting that into perspective, the rest of latin america is quite unsafe for gringos.

History is interesting and certainly important, but not a field of study where you learn about yourself at least not for common people.

Aren't you the guy telling me how important it is to be connected to your ancestors and now you're saying history is not important to learning about yourself. History helps you learn about your country, the development of your culture, your race, ideologies in the world, etc. What are you talking about?

An American born to sn American family (3 generations at least) visiting another part of America is perfectly fine

Why? If they have no connection to Wyoming why should they visit? Just because they spent three generations in Delaware?

unless you can demonstrate how engaging in hedonistic travels further your family and race it remains a waste of time and money.

I can say the same about literally any activity ever.

You don't need to go to the brothel to talk to a whore, we are talking and no one has moved

We are talking because we both are on Anon Babble and speak english. We have self selected. Going to some village in the Andes I'll meet people I would never have a chance of meeting online in any meaningful way. Getting invited by strangers to stay at their house is something we can't do online.

I can assure you there is little to learn from a whore in a brothel.

I disagree. I bet whores live way more interesting lives than a lot of people. It might be a sad depressing life. But I'd probably rather read about the experiences of a whore than some guy who never lives his town and works a boring monotonous job.

Ultimately you learn about yourself from others and your neighbour or a stranger on a bus

Agreed but there is utility in being in contact with people who are totally different from you as well.

Maybe I'm a bit bias because I've always been able to get around fine with my Spanish in LatAm. And in Brazil I just try to speak slow spanish, use my super basic Portuguese, or just use google translate (which has always been fine). But there's super large swaths of LatAm that are totally safe even if you have no spanish knowledge.

Those are just general platitudes about traveling. You made this thread about latin america specifically. So I ask again: why should I care about traveling to some random city in latin america?

Because Latin America is totally underrated because Americans tend to think the entire region is a cartel owned crime ridden hellhole.

Shut the fuck up, OP
Leave us alone

i've got to get off my ass and push my spanish from b1 or whatever it is. i've taken classes and passively learned while i was living in South America. Maybe 1.5 to 2 years in total, I still have residency there (bought it).

where I lived the Spanish is very clear and neutral. I just get a sense of freedom that just doesn't exist in Canada anymore

but I say, let them all figure it out themselves. Mexico I hear is already crawling with plenty of "expats" looking for the same freedom. I have stopovers there all the time but this year and hopped out the airport for the first time - I only stayed for a bit but Mexico city looks like it's practically a first world country. Last time I was in Tijuana was in the 90s when I was a kid.

Traveling and moving are two different things. Nowhere is safe if you cannot reliably mingle with the locals in a grid down scenario.

I speak fluent spanish and led expeditions in central america.

It's not necessarily that they are dangerous, but certain places and people are better than others

YEH BRO JUST GET YOUR ESCORTED SAFE CAR RIDE FROM THE TOURIST DEPOT TO THE 6 BLOCK TOURIST SPOT THAT YOU DON'T LEAVE AND NEVER GO OUT ALONE AT NIGHT TOTALLY SAFE

I had the opposite experience, I went there with ignorance and dismissed actual South Americans advice before hand to get a rude cultural shock. That place is a shithole and you have a death wish if you spend a long time there.

"It's not as violent as you think it is" isn't a reason to travel somewhere. You've yet to offer any tangible reasons why latin america is specifically a desirable place to visit. Just vague "travel is le good for the soul" horse shit. If that's the best you can come up with after your supposed many trips to the region, that's just further proof of how empty and meaningless a trip to latin america would be.

I tend to like to road trip myself in lat am at least when I'm not staying in one city for long periods of time.

It's a god tier destination for camping, hiking, rock climbing. The people are way nicer than in the US. You'll learn a new language. I enjoy the music and different dances people do. The history is better than anything you'll see in america and totally different from what you'd find in Europe or Asia. The ruins are amazing and you can find a lot of sites with almost no tourists that you will basically have free reign with. You will be exposed to people you would otherwise never have met. Yes, that's the benefit of travel it's just that Americans are afraid of latin america so they refuse to go. We should be learning about our continental brothers, not pretending they don't exist.

cartel owned crime ridden hellhole.

only the safe places..
tbf anon your depressed attitude can apply to anything, why bother? up to you.. for me it was sexy women, interesting nature, cheap, food was good, scratch latent the conquerer itch to sail the seas and see what is out there.
fair for us it's a long way to do a road trip

I was never robbed or suffered violence in my entire life, but some guy was robbed and killed right down the street in a rather peaceful middle class neighborhood.
There are too many dipshit criminals in this part of the world, you can't be a serious country if your people need walls around their houses.

To put it simply, Amerifatsos will get instarobbed and raped the moment they step out the airport. Their weird faces, manner of walking and diabetic bodies instantly flag them as prime victims. My friendly advice is to simply not come. Don't even consider it

Actually a funny story about Aussies... three times I've seen Western Australian plates on vans in South America. All three times it was boomer couples who drove from perth, took a ferry with their camper van and are driving up to alaska.

Pic related in Salta, Argentina

In Brazil in SP I once had a guy on a bike try (and fail) to steal my phone out of my hand. But I've also once dropped my wallet, a woman found it, saw my ID, found me on facebook, returned everything to me the next day.

It's a shithole, don't come.
