It's more then belief though. I'm hardcore physcics/astronomy and I was looking at the pattern of exploding stars in our direction. These were coronal shedding nova like events in the direction of the galactic center near our star. Mega-flares and some of them flaring from the whole surface of the star, the term micro-nova wasn't a thing back then. Calculating the position of these stars in space, converting observation time into real time adjusting for light years, I got an effect rate that was increasing as it approached Sol and a date for Sol of 2046. Our star is next in line. Our solar system has a parker spiral of charged dust which planets pass though and have minor geomagnetic storms from it. Our galaxy also likey has a current sheet, most dust in space isn't visible but there's telescopic evidence of galactic current sheet dust. Typically a parker spiral sheet of charged dust should increase in amplitude as it goes out. An increase rate of event amplitude with these stars is what I observed. Our solar system is presently moving into dust, it's known to be accumulating on our Sun and every probe has made note of it. Dust by the way is now a known trigger event for micro-nova's. So here we are.

And you look at animal die off records there's a pattern of 6000 and 12000 year events, we're at the 12000 big event mark, based on my analysis above I'd say it will be in most of our lifetimes. These events typically are associated with mega-tsunami, so coasts are toast, living at elevation might even be recommended. Also by 2030 I'd expect violent solar flares to be the norm, so bye bye electric grid.

I agree, I have always thought this. Yes there was no light pollution but aside from Venus, Jupiter, and sometimes Mars, Mercury and Saturn especially are not bright enough to be noticeable. It would have probably taken a long time to realize Saturn was a planet because of its slow movement. The other giant planets were technically named after Ancient Greek gods more recently.
