Assuming I make it another 50 years (who knows, really, could be I die in a year - life is random) but at least the COLA adjusted pension would, hopefully at least, keep me from starving for the rest of my life.

I always wonder how the Indians get into Canada. The Mexicans (or, rather apparently the majority of illegals are actually from Central/South America and not Mexico) can just cross the southern border and they're in. Indians have to fly to get to Canada and Canada, like the USA, has an electronic travel approval system (as does the UK, Australia, and others - the US/Canada do not require citizens of the other country to get that electronic number but everyone else does) that has to be completed before they're permitted to enter. At first yes, you just show up for Liturgy. Sometimes it's good to go to the matins/orthros service (morning service) before Liturgy on Sunday. It is quieter and it leads into the main Divine Liturgy.
You can just stand on the side or the back and observe. You will mostly be standing the whole time, we rarely sit in Orthodox services. Aside from that, don't feel pressure at all to do anything to follow along. People move a lot (cross themselves, bow, etc) so don't do that if you don't feel comfortable. Everybody was new first.

Japanese is pretty easy as long as you don't need to read or write kanji. Their syllabics follow the rules much more than English. Plus there is a lot of high quality media to consume for practice which gives motivation to "study".

Thai is actually a little easier to learn than Korean. Korean and Japanese grammar is an absolute nightmare.

Of course Japan is infinitely nicer than South East Asian countries. So it all depends on what you want. All East and South East Asian countries are safe compared to western countries, but if you're cool with things being a bit dingy in certain areas and uglier women, then South East Asia is the move. If you want pretty women, cleaner cities, and smarter people, but willing to put up with the slightly higher cost of living, Japan or Korea is definitely the move.

That is a good point. I'm just terrified of running out of money in a foreign country with no options. Say I have the COLA adjusted pension that is what it would be next month ($2,700) and after insurance and retirement accounts and whatever I can sell I have $500,000 in the bank and obviously whatever I got from selling the house and whatever else I have. That's all I would have for the rest of my life and I could live a long time. Lower cost of living is vitally important to me.
