Whenever I go to a store looking for something, the expectation of the store is I buy whatever garbage they have and not what I actually want. I want a nice lamp? Too bad, have this cheap piece of junk. I want a nice pair of headphones? Too bad, all we have is junk.
Brick and mortar stores are full of trash and there's no reason to waste time going to them when you can find what you actually want online.

Yea, it's certainly a mystery. It reminds me of when I first came out as trans. In the time leading up to it (when I was confused), I found a forum of likeminded people. This was both a blessing and a curse because on one hand, it was like, "Gah! There ARE other people out there like me!" On the other, it gave me a false sense of confidence that when I came out as trans, people would be accepting. This was HARDLY the case. My family and friends were, let's just say, less than happy. It begs the question, too, when are transfolk going to finally be accepted? It seems like everywhere you go, there's anti-trans sentiment. In movies, music, video games, every major retail chain, etc., it seems like there's such a hatred for transfolk. Sigh. Alas, I trudge on.

The mall- which is the landlord, not the stores inside- needed to grow. They ran out of places to put new malls that would make money, so growth came from jacking up rent.
Sears committed suicide and Amazon put JC Penny's on life support. Without big box stores on the edges, rent went up and foot traffic went down.

yeah, stores like walmart didn't help, and that absolutely destroyed what was left of your local mall. the premise of a mall kinda worked until the 1990s but shops in malls could no longer justify their pricing either as people could go elsewhere and get things much cheaper. these stores thrived in an era where economy was doing well and these stores could charge whatever the fuck they wanted. people would pay it. those times are over. and they were over decades ago.

Malls could be refurbished into new real estate areas with rooms that can be rented out instead of shops, simple money makers really even if they die off if one has the money to invest in such. Just think of it, you already have community areas and parking lots and what have you in those malls, you can also easily make space for a local gym and a laundromat, a diner or whatever stores and people literally don't have to leave that area if they work from home. Kek.

malls are absolutely pumping here though, i detest going to them on the weekends, theres way too many people and they're all pajeets and chinks to top it off.
All the malls in my area had to start hiring extra security and eventually banned loitering altogether to fight the nonwhite menace without outright saying so. White women stopped shopping at the malls because "it wasnt safe to take their little kids with all these gangbangers around" and thats a direct quote from a surburban soccer mom what would be called a karen now talking to other parents about why they dont go to THAT mall anymore (they now shop at a new outdoor shopping mall thing, built in the higher income/white area).
As an younger adult I went to visit a friend working at the mall and bring them lunch, and the security guards demanded that we leave because we were standing around for a few minutes waiting outside the store for her to go on break.And we were just a couple of white guys and a white girl. They had guards to harass you if you hang out at the mall. At that point they were on borrowed time. The tragedy of malls was by the end, shite kids who did nothing wrong couldnt hang out there because nonwhites were so criminal and violent that the malls themselves banned hanging out at the mall.
They had to do these things because of nonwhites. Everything was fine until every other face in the crowd wasnt white, then the malls died.
As the white population declined, average disposable income went down (most mexican money goes back to mexico families) and crime went up, cost of running business and cost of renting a space at the malls went up (jew landlord has to pay for the security guards somehow and its not going to come out of HIS profits!) And suddenly its impossible for small business to make money in the mall- their once former target business now priced out until only the big retail chains remained and then even these began to leave or die off in the face of amazon and the rising brown tide.
Brown people are a menace and there is no excuse for their behavior. We should be able to have malls without first building a white ethnostate.
Malls where a bullshit invention to replace Mainstreet with no real culture. It was convenent becouse no other options where avalable becouse of gay ass ucledian zoning laws. Now that we have the internet, people can just buy stuff there instead. We should fix zoning laws but rich racist retards would rather not fix the econmay cause they are gay and retarded. The malls are never coming back. Walmart and the suburbs are subsidized by the poor and the middle class. The rich are the real welfare queens. With smart zoning laws and maybe some good public transport/biking infrastructure Main Street could be revitalized.

Can't speak for other countries but both city centers and malls are dying out over here and it's a combination of internet shopping, ridiculously high rents for shopkeepers and there's a certain clientele who likes to use it as their playground. It's mostly because of the internet THOUGH. The only things I prefer to buy offline are groceries and that's because you just know the pickers choose the products in the front which expire first and the ugly fruits.
People have better things to do with their time than wander around a store for hours.

Malls died out mainly due to the fact that people just got exceptionally lazy and started ordering more and more things online. It became an inconvenience for the consumer to show up and actually shop at the mall as oppossed to having everything at your fingertips that was rarely out of stock of anything and had stuff the stores just couldn't hold or did thinnk to add to inventory. They also started having rules where the youth couldn't show up unaccompanied by an adult so they took away some of their main customer base.

seriously, i was a mall kid. We would hang out all the time at the mall. Then obama gave baby bonuses away and these people had money to get out the hood and buy shit. It became pretty black pretty quick.

I love the energy of malls. It's much better than online shopping. Just looking at all the overpriced junk is fun.
