My city has a few and they're in high demand. We've got a Goodyear factory, a Lay's potato chip factory, an M&M's factory, and a few more, and people are able to work those jobs and raise families and purchase homes. Factory jobs are the workers on the assembly line, but there are also maintenance positions, front office positions, and other support jobs associated with the factory, as well as other businesses that support the factory. Moving manufacturing back to America is what needs to be done because Americans need jobs, and service economy jobs can be outsourced to anywhere at the drop of a hat or taken over by AI so depending on them isn't sustainable for our country.

I work in a power plant, I've worked in factiries, if a factory offered more than my current job I'd switch.

The idea is sound though. With mass immigration, the lower rungs of society are pushed to compete for jobs higher up in the ladder causing downward pressure on wages across all industries. Bring back manufacturing and all of a sudden you have a new sector for the lower tier natives to occupy. This should in theory reduce the effect of the downward pressure on wages caused by immigration.

That very much depends on what they produce. For many products, especially high tech, pharma or specialized equipment then factory worker salaries are often a minor cost.
It can also be very difficult to find competent employees in third world countries, just look at all the problems apple has had with the quality of their iPhones produced in India.
Products like cars can absolutely be produced profitably in the west, the biggest hurdle is energy prices and, at least in Europe, governments are doing their best to keep the prices high and supply low.

Factory work can often be way better than most other blue collar work, it very much depends on what is produced and how.
