Homeless Pill

It doesn't seem that bad other than the danger of being assaulted/harassed. Diogenes lived comfortably in a barrel.

horrible teeth, hair, diet and hygeine

Have you seen the rent on a barrel lately???

Diogenes lived in a place with no real winter and still had an extensive support network

I lived in my car for a year in the mid-west. I was great and very freeing. I nearly died during the winter because some nights would get to -40F. I caught viral pneumonia, self diagnosed, right when spring was arriving and couldn't move for a month. Lived on apples and protein bars during that time; I had to spread out the rations because sick and didn't have a lot.
This made me value life. 10/10 would totally do again in a slightly warmer place

If you really, really, really do not have other prospects, look for openings in the army. For some years, you will not have to worry for housing and food. May be also training in some skill, which is marketable.
But it is, if there is not much other opportunities.

Diogenes was literally fictional bud

it sucks. you spend most of your time either too hot or too cold, can't count on being able to get out of the rain or sun or away from the bugs, flies etc, and can never tell if someone is going to come along and fuck you up.

I had a local one. Homeless guy but he did it because he liked that lifestyle. He wouldnt even take your money, he was not a beggar, he just liked to live on the street and eat from the trash. He died a year or so ago, tons of candles near the bench he used to stay on.

will you all be praying to St Hobosius now?

Nope. I still am better than you.

homelessness ain't so bad

a leaf

try sleeping outside on the streets when it's -30 celsius

If you have a car to live in homeless isn’t bad at all, did it for a couple of years. If you have to sleep on the street though it’s hell on earth and bad things will happen to you a lot.

Just live in a quiet village
You can have a toothbrush and a soap
Bullshit Diogenes use to hugs statues with snow for temperate himself
Definitely more real than Jesus Christ

We had similar guy a lot of years ago. He was painter. Now in one of places where he hanged out, there is monument for him.

his father was a banker
yeah people gave him money to be a teacher
he was not always without money

was Aristotle fiction
he actually knew Diogenes
they did not always agree on things
even Alexander saw this guy he was pleased with him

a superstitious people

I love youtube videos with people camping/car camping during snow blizzards, it seems so comfy, if you are prepared its a nice experience.
Well, it takes alot of dedication and strength to do it willingly, whoever does that is either insane or some kind of philosopher.

Definitely more real than Jesus Christ

Evolutionary religion arose slowly throughout the millenniums of mankind’s experiential career through the ministry of the following influences operating within, and impinging upon, savage, barbarian, and civilized man:

92:0.2 (1003.2) 1. The adjutant of worship—the appearance in animal consciousness of superanimal potentials for reality perception. This might be termed the primordial human instinct for Deity.

92:0.3 (1003.3) 2. The adjutant of wisdom—the manifestation in a worshipful mind of the tendency to direct its adoration in higher channels of expression and toward ever-expanding concepts of Deity reality.

92:0.4 (1003.4) 3. The Holy Spirit—this is the initial supermind bestowal, and it unfailingly appears in all bona fide human personalities. This ministry to a worship-craving and wisdom-desiring mind creates the capacity to self-realize the postulate of human survival, both in theologic concept and as an actual and factual personality experience.

92:0.5 (1003.5) The co-ordinate functioning of these three divine ministrations is quite sufficient to initiate and prosecute the growth of evolutionary religion. These influences are later augmented by Thought Adjusters, seraphim, and the Spirit of Truth, all of which accelerate the rate of religious development. These agencies have long functioned on Urantia, and they will continue here as long as this planet remains an inhabited sphere. Much of the potential of these divine agencies has never yet had opportunity for expression; much will be revealed in the ages to come as mortal religion ascends, level by level, toward the supernal heights of morontia value and spirit truth.

As a nation, we are not much into monuments. But yeah, have some. For poet, statesmen, composer and for hobo.

it seems so comfy, if you are prepared its a nice experience.

I hitchhiked to Portugal, and in Balkans.
You don't need to be in cold to get interesting experience. You can get in warm-ish times too.

If you have some experience, in summertime go for a hike for like 3 days. Preferably in place where there is not much people, no internet, no cell coverage. It will kinda make you "rethink" your thoughts. You will get better sleep, because of lower EM background noise. If you manage to get into meditative state, it will be something next level.

There was reasons, why people in ancient and medieval times went on pilgrimages.

I want to try it. I was going to take my phone because I'm internet addicted, but maybe I should try without.

I do go camping quite often, very rare that i do it in the winter, i like hammock camping and lightweight backpacking.
Used to do some urbex too, slept on top of an abandoned factory once.

No it's bad and you're retarded. I've spent time on the streets and I've spent time in prison. Prison is better, trust me. Starving and sleeping in the rain is not as fun as having 3 decent meals a day and a bed to sleep in.

Take phone, but go to area without cell coverage. Or at least, turn of internet.

When you are in "disconnected" mode, some info which at moment are in kinda "background" and "hanging on" mode, will surface. You will thing about it for some time, and then it will become in "resolved" mode. Be it some trivial things, like, how to organize garden beds. Or some more complex things, how to resolve technical problem.

And one by one, by "resolving" those things, for which you do not have time at moment, because got distracted by something. Be it job, or youtube, or smth else. By "resolving" more of those, you will gain more "inner peace". Also likely will notice some interesting plants, animals at that sort of things.
For begginers, 2 days should give enough experience how to prepare, and what to do. For me, for optimal kinda engagement, it is 3...7 days. Most of effect you will gain on day 3. Later there is diminishing results.

Take a book maybe. Take the phone too in case of emergency, just dont use it.

also living in your car isn't homeless. You're living in your car, that is your home.

Was hiking in Sweden, in northern part. Beyond Polar Circle. In nighttime there temperature dropped to around +2 Celsius. Kinda tolerable, but uncomfortable.
From other hand, view was stunning.
Never did winter camping. For me, that lower part of being comfy, is around 10 degrees.

vagrant holiday

Paul Erdős was basically homeless his whole life. Being a jew, he sponged off his friends, instead of roughing it.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Erdős

...his life was a continuous series of going from one meeting or seminar to another. During his visits, Erdős expected his hosts to lodge him, feed him, and do his laundry, along with anything else he needed, as well as arrange for him to get to his next destination.

Do you live in Greece you stupid fucking snowjeet? Go back and swing from tree to tree, you live in the frozen north now.

Winter camping only works in a car for me, maybe a modified van or something, nice heating system, a microwave to make some warm noodles or something, plenty of warm blankets and some whiskey to sip while watching the snowy landscape.
Outdoor could work too maybe if you are with other people, you could wake up in shifts to maintain the fire.
But i only go solo camping so nah.

if you're living in a back alley you're not homeless

the alley is your home.

No because the alley isn't YOURS, retard.

winter camping is fine if you're in a dry area. deserts at -25c are very nice places to be for example. then again, once its down that kind of cold even the snow doesn't melt and the air is dried out anyway so thats not a problem either. its the wet and damp from condensation etc that makes camping when its cold a pain in the ass.

but your cardboard box is.

One of acquaintances did tried to sleep in tent in winter. But he is also doing winter swimming. Cleared area from snow, set up tent. While sleeping, some critters scratched under the tent. Probably some field mice or smth. Those noises fucked up his sleep cycle. As much I know, he did not tried second time.

Here's an upgraded cardboard box, the foam box. Higher r-value, more robust. Although that's probably over $100 in foam right there.

There were also no schizojoggers trying to rob you for fent money while you slept on the street in ancient Athens

Yeah that's what Diogenes had going for him

Perfect Med climate

High trust ancient Hellene society.

be better spent on meth

Reflective part should be in inside.
You want to try to get as little attention as possible. No flashy things. No bright things.

Small, lightweight (~3.5kg) tent in camouflage colors. With cost of 30 bucks, are relatively reasonable thing. In warm weather.

tent_small.jpg - 887x827, 110.06K

Could probably fit a de/humidifier in the van.
Outdoor would completely suck yeah, no idea how some people do it, but homeless people do it for months and months and they are fine somehow(as much as a homeless can be)
Its not for everyone...i mean yeah, you can do it but it wont be enjoyable.

True. Different people, different preferences.

In circle of aqauintainces, there were some people who wanted to go to Antarctica. Plans got changed, because of Pandemic. Still, to travel to Antarctica, travel costs alone would be in like 6k EUR. And then to walk 200km to some station. Fuck that shit. Have walked ~160km for 5 days, in nice warm weather. Got blisters. Nah. Now more than 50km walk, is not for me.
