Actually before I changed careers and got into accounting and finance I used to drive forklifts,electric lifts, etc, you can actually make a survivable wage operating machines in large warehouses, but it's crappy work.

2. Increase your income as much as you can. If that means doing gig work, do it. Even if you already have a shitty job, do the gig work. More money in the bank will only help you.

3. Try to find *some* sort of business you can run. Could be car detailing, mowing lawns, ANYTHING. The key is that you need to already have an income so you aren't relying on the business to survive.

Unironically if you're even halfway intelligent there's a decent career path still open in manufacturing fields in quality assurance.

You're usually competing with people that can't do statistical analysis and interpret it, or read a blueprint. You leverage that into any kind of specialization and you've found a niche. Getting training in particular measurement equipment or software especially is valuable or if you can wedge yourself into training for auditing quality management systems.

Finding yourself in a quality field that offers that kind of development or training is like a 3-5 year path to a genuinely decent salary position if you work hard and stand out from the mental deficient hall monitors that often occupy those positions.

I personally know 4 people that began work as a floor level quality inspector and became salaried staff in the last 2 years after an average of 3-4 years. They all now have jobs that start you at the 32 dollar an hour range.

I just got a second job as a freelance elixir developer. I cold emailed every web design agency I found and told them to throw work my way if needed and here is my portfolio of sample sites I have running for free on fly.io and I taught myself while doing shit work.
My regular job is airport ground handler, any monkey who applies is hired, but I grinded it out for 4 years at low wage until a new airline opened last year and I asked their crew if they were hiring. Now I work 1030-1830 managing retard stoners, and after do 4 hours of freelancing elixir tasks, sleep and get up ~6am, do 4 more hours of elixir though lately I've gotten so fast at it all work can be completed in a single day.

Friend 1 is a corporate accountant, graduated a 2yr program in 2021, spent 1 yr making low wage as a paid intern the school gets for you. He's now fully licensed and working for some global oil shipping company making so much money I'm wondering why I don't do the same.
Friend 2 went to the same tech school for production work, interned at a film studio that paid min wage, now works at a gaming studio as a producer as of last year. He got the game job from a linkedin recruiter.
