There was also a case a few years ago where a 16 year old had to register for posessing CP because his 17 year old gf sent him nudes, I believe it was an obviously excessive punishment in that case but I think he got it appealed.

I don't know the exact statistics, if there are even statistics covering that either. I live in California, so they're a lot more sensitive about it, but sexual assault of any kind typically gets you a sex offender registration here. I've seen several cases in my local news over the years where a woman gets groped or kissed at the bar and the guy has to register. For clarification I'm not talking about the punishment for the actual crime, but registering as a sex offender is worse than having felonies on your record.
