Tariffs would theoretically encourage transnational corporations to invest in manufacturing infrastructure in America *if* they knew tariffs weren't always majorly unpopular with the average citizen (because the cost is passed on to them) and so, in 4 more years, the next President will inevitably campaign on reversing them.
I don't know about other forms of manufacturing but specifically for semiconductors, it will be literally impossible to manufacture in America because for almost 20 years, American universities pushed software engineering/cs to all STEM-inclined people. There aren't nearly the amount of people who are trained in electrical engineering, semiconductor manufacturing, microelectronics, and associated fields. 40% of MIT's student body studies CS.
In Taiwan, people actually study hardware.

There's tons of manufacturing investment happening in America. CHIPS, IRA, and the Ukraine War caused a boom. That's ultimately going to lead to jobs. Tariffs mostly reoriented trade away from one country (e.g. China) to other countries (Vietnam, Mexico). Biggest problem growing it more a strong dollar making it really cheap to import consumer goods.

Because human labour is usually the largest cost of manufacturing jobs and wealthy kikes don't want to pay liveable wages to workers. Plus there's still 131 other countries the US has to compete with for sales and there's few professionals who know how to design factories and even fewer businesses that can build the equipment so you'd still be buying shit from China. Just high priced injection molders instead of the cheap plastic objects they make.
I'll laugh when they go through the process of building plants and making products. Except they cost 3x as much as everywhere else and the plants close because no one wants to buy a microwave for 2 grand.
