A village in the middle of Africa lacks any real employment, the people there live in huts they own, and they can sustain themselves off of communal farms, animal husbandry, and hunting. They have an enormous amount of leisure and less pressures in their lives. With money as less of an issue, there's less transactional relationships and more intimacy between people. They often maintain deep family networks of support. And yes, they maintain traditional family pressures to marry and reproduce from a young age. Historically, this kind of survivability and ownership of your life has always been tied to higher birthrates and began to sink as it became more atomized and commodified.

Not only that, but they have a much more relaxed approach to child rearing than westerners do, kids have a lot more freedom and therefore need fewer resources to take care of them, they can go fish all day on their own and actually help out instead of being energy burdens.
