And another big driver of everyone being an officer is the same as local government, their pay isn't indexed to inflation and they won't tolerate union action. So if wages are falling across the board, and they refuse to lift wages in line with inflation, what they do is promote people into better paid roles to encourage infighting and discourage strikes. Again, no secrets here, it's a tried and true method.

Also worth pointing out, conscripts don't get paid. You're deployed, they won't give you shit. And if you survive they're basically paying you a dead cunts wages, and as every veteran will tell you they are immune to private legal action, the "pension" veterans get is basically an industrial payout delayed 40 years.
