Just looking at the energy drinks I have, a can of soda is ~35mg of caffeine, a red bull is roughly 2 sodas at 80mg, and a monster is roughly 4 sodas worth at 160mg. An 8 oz cup of coffee is somewhere between 100-200 mg per cup. There is literally no reason why "energy drinks" are treated as the boogie man they are since soda is roughly equal to a black tea and an energy drink is roughly a cup of coffee.
