And as for the NT I've read most of it in Hebrew (there are two main translations, one's older and uses biblical Hebrew style, and the other is newer and uses modern Hebrew).
I prefer the older version, as it feels more authentic, but in reality I don't think the newer one is any less authentic, it is just a style difference.
But I've also read parts of the bible in various different translations to English.

I can tell you that, at least in the OT where I have access to the original text, the meaning is kept pretty well in the various translations, but a lot of the nuances are lost in translations. You can see it in the Hebrew poetry, or in a lot of names where the bible gives a reason for that name being given.

Jesus spoke Aramaic, not Greek, so that even if you read it in the original Greek, it's still a translation, and some of the meaning is bound to be lost.
