The people we call "Jews" in modern times are the descendants of those who chose to follow the pharisees. This is why Christians cannot be philo-semitic. It is explained in Revelation 3:9,
"Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee."
The object of God's love being referred to in the second person here is the faithful followers of Christ. God will damn the pharisees and their disciples (modern Jews) to hell where they will gather about under Satan. But before this happens they will be made to kneel and serve the faithful Christians in order that they understand the Christians are God's adored.
Revelation 3:9 illustrates how Christians ought to view their relationship with the "Jews". And to soft-peddle on this issue or to teach the opposite is heresy, plain and simple.
