Death penalties don't work. Criminality, even specific crimes, are strongly correlated to genetics. Criminals are largely impulse driven rather than true rational actors.

It is shown again and again in the jurisdiction statistics. For example, Texas has a higher crime rate compared to many other states, particularly concerning violent crime.

The death penalty is also incredibly stupid. Innocent people get convicted all the time because the justice system is corrupt and incompetent. Wouldn't you rather spend your time in a humane environment where you aren't killed, segregate from society if you are convicted innocent person? This would at least give you a chance to prove your innocence or at least live a worthwhile life.
