Every other form of ranged killing involves some amount of risk, even if you are a pilot, there are a myriad of ways to die without even getting directly shot at.
You might argue Artillery is cowardly but it too carries a lot of risk not even considering counter artillery fire, you have to handle large amounts of explosives around heavy equipment that can kill you instantly if you so much as stand out of place, the muzzle blast and recoil for example, the tubes themselves wear out and can blow up in your face without warning.
Drones... Unless you someone how arm and set off the explosive before take-off there isn't much risk to your person at all, more than likely you're not even handling the drone on the ground so you might not even be at any risk whatsoever.

All have their own trigger mechanism except the C4 charges which are triggered using a battery and copper wires.to form a circuit. On impact the wires touch and close the circuit causing the C4 to explode. You can see the wires in videos.
