If you look at Ethiopia for instance (which is one of the oldest Christian empires) they practiced the liturgy and shared the same values as do the Catholics and the Eatern Orthodoxy, and it was reflected in their culture and continues to be so to this day. The rest of clergy would remain exactly as they had been before anyway; it's not like the whole institution would change overnight in terms of its administrative structure and duties. What would change would be the teachings coming from Papal infallibility, which happens anyway when a new Pope is elected, regardless of race. So I don't really see how the race of the Pope himself is that big of an issue. If it's optics you're worried about, the Church has weathered far worse. It's almost like God's Divine Hand is holding the Church together as an institution, and not the works of men, you might say
