I don't think wellness checks are fine. It's basically an empty accusation that allows anyone to put a cop on your house and then the burden's on you to play it cool and convince them that there's nothing untoward going on. There's no consequences to making the accusation falsely, you don't even have to state anything specific, you can just say you're nervous about the situation for whatever reason and they'll go over to figure it out. If anything bad does happen it's on the cop, not you. Then whoever you're siccing them after has to respond calmly and not do anything to flip the cop's switch; and there is no guarantee you can do that; or have the presence of mind to simply not answer the door. Otherwise they can get their heads blown off.

It's basically a low-level swatting. The purpose of swatting isn't to get people arrested, it's to put them in a high-pressure situation where they're likely to make a mistake and get themselves shot by police. Rather than suicide by cop, it's homicide by cop. Wellness checks aren't quite to that level but can escalate to that and serve as low level harassment even if nothing happens.
