FUCKING LIAR
The Sheriff's Office revealed that law enforcement was dispatched to the residence at 34 Cook Rd. around noon on March 21 for a report of Miles Dignean, 32, having a "psychotic episode."
The office said a deputy from the Oswego Sheriff's Office Civil Division responded to the address to serve a Family Court Order of Protection against Dignean, which meant that a 3-year-old at the address needed to be removed from his custody.
Around 12:48 p.m., two deputies arrived at the home and "immediately came in contact" with Dignean. The Sheriff's Office said troopers arrived within minutes.
"Mr. Dignean was informed that a family member was responding to take custody of the child," the Sheriff's Office said. "Once Mr. Dignean was informed of this, he became uncooperative with the Officers and attempted to prevent the removal of the child."
Troopers managed to remove the child from Dignean's custody, prompting him to become combative, the office said. He then grabbed a metal object, which the Sheriff's Office now described as a 7-inch by 17 inches, 8-pound steel C-clamp and struck the trooper in the head with it.
Deputy Corey Whitney, an 11-year veteran, then deployed his taser to no effect, prompting him to switch to his gun and fire twice, the office said.
The office noted that Deputy Charles Costello, a 25-year veteran and New York State Police Trooper Junyla Sabari were also present.
The office said the three officers rendered aid to Dignean before he was taken to Upstate University Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The child was removed from the scene and placed in the care of family members.
The Sheriff's Office said, before the incident, there were "multiple 911 calls, made by multiple people," to the address. The office did not detail what the 911 calls were about.
Deputy Whitney and Deputy Costello were placed on administrative leave pending the investigation.
