A lot of people are confusing logic and reason. If all living things disappeared logic would still exist. Logic is the fact that things are noncontradictory. If a rock is a rock it is a rock, 2+2=4 it would never be 5, that doesn’t change no matter the viewer. It’s basically a basis for all reality to even exist, and is why our reason even works.

False. Rhetoric is persuasive speech. Persuasive speech often plays on people’s emotions rather than attempting to form a consistent logical argument. Logic is in fact the study of correct reasoning, and makes explicit the inference rules that we use to think.

Logic, ironically, is inherently divorced from "reality" (i.e. you can follow logical conclusions applied to data but that's only a small subset of logic)

this is correct on a technical level. in college i took some abstract math classes where they had us do proofs using fundamental logical operators on arbitrary mathematical constructs. logic is the exercise of formal reasoning techniques which i would deem to be rooted in natural laws. pretty cool stuff if i do say so myself.

You use complex terms because the people you study use them. They use them to seperate themselves from others, an appeal to authority, sophistry. You could speak in layman's terms but you deliberately seperate yourself from people who do not have the confidence in vocabulary.

I assume most of my ideas aren’t completely novel. Hence I do use sufficiently close corresponding concepts in order to communicate higher orders of concepts etc. Otherwise I would write hundreds or thousands of words just to make it accessible to anyone and express where my knowledge differs. We simply assume certain things as given and while I’m willing to debate anything, but I acknowledge reality in the sense that not everything is in debate all the time.

Logic is usually used to mean the rules governing the use of words in the formation of propositions and syllogisms. However, there is also a logic to non-propositional language; so logic can more broadly be said to be the rules determining how language functions to create meaning.
