This is what I've learned from being in the US and Canada:

Socialized healthcare is good if you're poor. Private healthcare is good if you're not. But eventually socialized healthcare can't be maintained with good standards when you don't have leaders who care about a countries health.

Also, US consumers essentially subsidize drugs for countries with social healthcare, as those countries literally cannot afford these medicines at full cost. Us also subsidizes them by giving those countries military protection so those countries themselves can spend their money on social programs. If the US withdrew from the world stage, you would quickly see these countries abandoned their socialized healthcare system, or if they didn't, it would be fucking garbage.

Maybe next time you will keep a closer eye on your child and take precautions so this never happens again.

Anyone who has looked at a hospital bill before insurance kicks in realizes that hospitals are fucking kikes. They charge $20 for one pill of ibuprofen that costs 1 cents to manufacture, the insurance company bids them down to $10 and you have to pay a copay on top of your premiums. The doctors, the insurance companies, and the pharmaceutical companies all get a cut, but the hospitals and doctors are getting the biggest cut.

There is a whole other discussion about malpractice and the retarded tort system in this country. Doctors love to complain about how much they have to pay for malpractice insurance, but even when you factor in malpractice, they are still making so much money compared to doctors everywhere else.

I can't speak for every Tom and Dick small-town clinic all across America, but most of the doctors and nurses at these non-profits don't get paid nearly what they would on the private side, but they do get to basically be at the cuttin-edge of their field and do what they love. In Canada an average family of 4 with two working parents pays $20,000 a year in healthcare tax whether they use it or not. They also must have health insurance to pay for quality of life health items like glasses, dentistry, many prescriptions, timely care, etc. The "universal health care" really is only for emergency items, rest is shit tier long waitlist or non-existent.

Probably they can negotiate a more favorable number, but the hospital never gets what the full price was. So they started jacking prices to push back. This is why if you need non emergency medical care, and you can pay cash, you can deal with the hospital ahead of it, and they will quote you a much, much lower price.
