Here, at least in low end restourants (in which I usually eat), usually you pay upfront. You go at counter, look at menu, decide what you want and then pay for it. Go to a table, and some time later pay for it. Happens like 2/3 cases. And what shown on a bill, it is final. As it includes taxes too.

I tip 10% for restaurant service if its good. I dont take all day, I take 1 hour max to eat typically. If the meal is 110 and I give you a 13 dollar tip, I honestly see that as extremely generous, it easily bumps up your hourly wage to a respectable number in conjunction with what youre already paid. This is to say nothing of the other tables being served at the same time. Why the fuck should I have to shell out 20 or 30 dollars? Because you brought 4 items to my table and refilled the tea once?
