i've worked with a handful of indians, and i've seen the work that indians have done after i left companies. the indians i worked with at the last company i worked for were generally competent and fine to be around. they were considerate and thoughtful, but difficult to reason with when it came to making strategic architectural and staffing decisions. they were hung up on what other companies do or have done. for instance, their concept of hiring programmers came from 5-10 year old corporate hiring practices at the big companies like google and facebook, which only work with a great surplus of funding available to hire many candidates then weed out the incompetent over time. they didn't understand that a scrappy team requires more particular attention, and therefore a more tailored vetting process. they thought 'it works for facebook, so we should do it' was the right decision, and struggled to conceive of the different needs of a smaller startup.

more recently, a company i was performing some temporary contract work hired multiple indian candidates to perform similar contract work. i was eventually moved over to help one of them doing the etl work to get legacy data into a new database. when i looked over his code, it was apparent that he had no insight into planning for modeling existing and new systems, nor encapsulation/abstraction, and was simply doing what he was told to do without any anticipation of the amount of work he was creating for himself and others. all of the code he worked on for 6 months was removed, and greater functionality was achieved in 3 weeks. within 3 months 95% of the data was being migrated reusing multiple reusable interfaces and base classes.

after i left a company i worked for ~5 years ago, they hired anindian to do design work, and then hired more to do development. the site is uglier and is riddled with esl retard english.

oh yeah, while i was contracted with that company doing etl work, they hired another indian to help with the etl. he spoke without an accent and was probably born in the usa, but when he typed on slack and in issues it was in a broken indian english. he regularly couldn't make meetings/huddles, and struggled to convey programming concepts in the ones he attended. he required a lot of time to set up his computer every time he joined a meeting. i'm thoroughly convinced he was scamming the company by acting as the front for an indian workforce. the quality of his work was generally pretty bad, though sometimes adequate.

i guess i say all that to make the point that the conclusion i landed at is that indians are generally just regular people with regular attributes who should be handled on a case by case basis, assessing their strengths and weaknesses and determining a path of action given observations of their behaviors.

They are the least competent people I've ever had the displeasure of interacting with. They are utterly useless. I have worked at an IT company for 12 years and during that time we've hired 0 Indian people. All white staff. We are an elite level MSP servicing the northwest and we do a lot of IT help desk type work and that means for one reason or another that we have to call vendors for support or on board clients leaving from an Indian it support team to ours. They dont know basic English so you must reiterate yourself 1000 times to get the most basic points across. They dont read all of the details you put in your emails to them which clearly state the issue and your intentions for reaching out. They send an email to you asking a question you already answered and dont respond for 2 days. Without fail if your issue get escalated to a higher support team it takes a week and then FINALLY gets to a white person who can help you. They dont know anything, they dont care that they dont know, they dont want to know they can't learn and they have no intention of learning. Once you get an Indian hiring manager the entire staff goes Indian due to nepotism and the quality of service goes down. They are not qualified to do work in tech.

at one company i worked for as a w2 employee, a developer was tasked with creating a headless wagtail api. i was asked to direct him on how to do it, and showed him how wagtail uses drf and has various well-documented features that will handle all of the needs. he wrote all of the functionality himself in custom functional views, then added custom json serializers on all of the models. he spent over a month working on it, and his pull request was over 3000 lines of code in ~100 files. i rejected it, explained to him that he did nothing of what i told him, and described to the project manager that somebody should talk to him about communication. all of his code was totally scrapped, and i was tasked as lead dev to direct a contractor and a junior developer to recreate the api. when they suggested the other developer also join the team, i objected, but the managers thought 'more deadline means more people', and so they had him float between front end and back end. in his first pull request he totally ignored all of the documentation and direction i provided, so i rewrote all of the code and showed the project manager how much work he was forcing others to perform. he was blonde haired and blue eyed, and he was incompetent as a programmer and as a communicator.

Worked closely with a couple dozen or so over the years. Individually, most were good. Decent work ethic, healthy ambition, relatively smart. Selection pressures screened out ones with more abrasive negative traits you hear about.

But almost uniformly across them all, they had a huge problem with pushing back or defying authority. They just couldn't do it. They'd swallow any shit their manager or retard PM would give them and be too afraid to challenge the reasons or the assumptions or the scope. That's a critical thing to be successful in engineering, and none of them really had it in them.
