I've heard DS9 is great but I'm looking for something seemingly lighter hearted and ideally newer. Anon Babble is the only trusted source for media recommendation.
Comfy space shows
I've heard DS9 is great but I'm looking for something seemingly lighter hearted and ideally newer. Anon Babble is the only trusted source for media recommendation.
farscape came out around the same time.
I don't have a newer recommendations than Battlestar Galactica. If you thought DS9 was heavy, though, then you may not like it.
Battlestar Galactica is also very religious. DS9 touches on religion but makes the deities "wormhole aliens". Battlestar on the other hand is God punishing the heathens.
ds9 has some slightly darker themes, but it's also the goofiest Star Trek with the space jews and the cardassians
90s Trigun. The new one is great too.
Stargate SG-1 is light and very good.
well which space shows have you already seen?
Most space shows are not particularly based unfortunately. They often have the premise of uniting all of humanity into some gay multiracial culture that then goes into space. This is less noticeable with 90s stuff as casting was pretty white with tokens for example Star Trek, and honestly the characters are well done enough that it's not a problem. The premise is still gay though. The ideal that humans will populate the galaxy with bongo bongos and pajeets is laughable. Most realistic prospect at the moment is China using its total control to focus resources into space travel.
The disappointment when I saw Babylon 5 and a few episodes in there's a terrorist movement called 'Earth First' or something that are opposed to Aliens living on Earth, and this is shown as a despicable belief. Like, what?
ideally newer
the newest scifi shows i watched were Dark Matter (2015) and Killjoys (2015), and both were shit
Babylon 5, obviously. No other sci fi show even approaches this level of quality.
Expanse is the best scifi series. (Even if it's full of shitskins.)
BSG has heavy Mormon influence. Fuck that religion.
Sci-Fi is gay space communism for gay communists.
Planetes is good too
BSG shits all over modern Star Trek, we won't get another show like it again.
Farscape is somehow both comfy and schizocore at the same time.
It's excellent but it's hardly light sci fi.
in theory, but it usually follows people exploring space in a strict military organization, nobody cares about the commies eating their own shit back at earth even if we know they exist
It has great highs but awful lows. When the story finally gets going at end of S1 it's great, I think S4 and 5 were fucking terrible.
Trigun isn't a "Space Show".
Red Dwarf and Farscape are both light hearted.
Space shows after 2005 are unanimously garbage and the overwhelming majority of them are cynical. The Orville is probably the closest to what you want but it still isn't close to as good as classic Trek.
Trigun isn't a "Space Show".
it technically is though
Red Dwarf
lol, doesn't get much lighter than red dwarf. i grew up watching that on TV as each new series cam out in the UK, great times.
loved Firefly too. really good series and the movie they made, Serenity, was a pretty good ending to it i guess.
"Attention Barjoran Peasants, due to the high rate of production recently, I am rewarding you by cutting the daily executions from 5 to 3"
Original Doctor Who is maximum comfy.
Avenue 5 is fairly new. A bit of scifi and a bit of comedy. It's properly stupid but has a few good moments. A British comedy pretending to be American. Like red dwarf meets the loveboat. It also has Dr House and Mr Neelix.
S4 was weak because the new studio just took over. But S5 was the best imo.
It's a western show that just doesn't take place on Earth. There's only one episode that takes place in space and it's really just a history lesson to explain how they ended up on mega-desert world with 19th century tech.
The Orville is basically the comfiest parts of the good Star Trek shows from the time before the franchise was hanged, drawn, and quartered. That a supposed parody is more faithful to the spirit of the original and a more worthy continuation than the modern interpretations tells a lot about the clown world we live in.
light hearted? Legends of the Galactic Heroes
in theory, but it usually follows people exploring space in a strict military organization
So did the Bolsheviks. The issue really is that with two exceptions (Dune and 40k) sci-fi is inherently progressive. It is forward looking and accepts the Marxian conception of "the end of history". It's generally multi-racial or post-racial, classless, and utopian.
Contrast that, for example, with high fantasy. Hierarchy, racialism, order, and tradition are all intrinsic to the genre.
Technically it is a space series
The Orville is good. Mainly because Seth McFarlane isn't the focus.
They tear apart the trans lunacy. That alone is worth the watch.
There's only one episode that takes place in space and it's really just a history lesson to explain how they ended up on mega-desert world with 19th century tech.
there's more space stuff in the manga, but yeah it's mostly stuff in the sand planet
Cut out the woman and son drama, make it 2 parter with the battles and yes, kino.
So did the Bolsheviks
there's a lot we should learn from them
S3 was a travesty. The story in every single episode somehow progresses at a snails pace while feeling absurdly rushed, like 90% of the episodes is filler because they didn't force McFarlane to boil it down to fit a time slot.
Best of luck with that.
Came here to post this. Lando is pretty tragic in terms of unrepetance, but I'm glad he and G'kar became friends
In terms of live action, the expanse. It's got Thomas Jane in it and he's by far the best character. Watched the show for him. There's cool shadow government deepstate stuff that sucks you in, then some spooky "could be aliens" shit happens. Haven't seen the new seasons after they found "could be aliens" warp gates. They went hard with using tall string bean actors for belters and then they got inconsistent with it later on.
The Orville
i dropped it after the robot suicide episode, the niggress dating the robot was always the worst part, even worse than the gayniggers from outer space and the tranny baby
C'mon... no mention of cowboy bebop? Seriously?
They did a study of 100 sex offenders once 98 were hardcore trekkies
Star Trek was also created by a cop
Makes you think
Legend of the Galactic Heroes is a classic Anon Babble approved space opera.
the only good high fantasy is Tolkien, otherwise Sword and Sorcery is usually more based, some of the creators of board games like M. A. R. Barker were neonazis and revisionist historians
season 1-3, maybe 4 DS9 is Quarks Adventures Through The Talmud basically, shit is hilarious
It's alright, I only got halfway through and forgot about it. I cant tell you a characters name.
they'll get it right next time.
I just finished reading the Robert E Howard conan stuff. Idk how I tolerated lotr. Gonna have to reread the book of the new sun, too because I'm a brainlet. I hear dying earth is great as well.
Firefly was pretty good. The movie too. Not a ton of content because it was cancelled but it was good and shouldn't have been cancelled. It's not particularly light hearted though I wouldn't say it's very heavy either. Very average sci fi, but also very well executed and pretty unique. Not obviously ripping off Star Wars or Star Trek like most.
the orville is more faithful to the spirit of star trek
Nope.
Hey guys, I got some weed lol
no time for that Sgt Seth Mcfarlines Mate. We have a complicated space mystery to solve
What is it captain Family guy? BTW I still have weed. Also shit. I said shit.
Remember that episode of TNG with the complicated moral dilemma? The one that involved lots of philosophical conversation and introspection? Well that exact same situation, except this time one side is right and the other is wrong and don't think about it.
Fuck. I said fuck too. Also lets get drunk
No time for getting drunk my ex-wifes boyfriend is here to tell me I'm an asshole for having a job while I was married.
The same job your wife has? Farts btw. Farts are funny.
Yes but she's a strong indendant woman and thus I'm in the wrong.
BTW did you know the nigger doctor is in love with the robot? People say that's kinda like Spock But Spock was half human and... Like a living being. He just repressed emotions. The doctor is in love with a literal machine. She's introducing it to her kids and everything. She truely is the wisest one of us all.
They tear apart the trans lunacy
how can you be this wrong? They have an episode where a trans alien sings Dolly Parton songs to win an argument in space parliament about how important trans rights are.
The Orville is Star Trek for people who are too stupid to really understand Star Trek.
I think they wanted space shows, not westerns.
Expanse... it's not all happy go lucky (only on season 2).
so far I agree
sci-fi is inherently progressive. It is forward looking and accepts the Marxian conception of "the end of history". It's generally multi-racial or post-racial, classless, and utopian.
Contrast that, for example, with high fantasy. Hierarchy, racialism, order, and tradition are all intrinsic to the genre.
Explains why I like fantasy more!
shoot
I watched the Netflix version before the original, and thought it was pretty good.
Back in the day I was a Macross / Robotech fan
They tear apart the trans lunacy
a kid literally gets transed in the series
How is cowboy bebop a western? That's like saying Trigun is a space show
the only good high fantasy is Tolkien,
Avsolute gibberish
otherwise Sword and Sorcery is usually more based
If you want to divide the two, sure. I'd call S&S a sub-genre of High Fantasy. But even if you treat them as distinct, the vent diagram of the two is basically a circle.
Idk why Issac killing himself upset you.
It fits the story. He realized his presence was disruptive, and knew if he removed himself the ship would be more efficient.
It wasn't an emo decision.
I understand your distaste for the DR and his relationship, but its still funny if you think about it. And I don't care what anyone says the little boy is fucking ADORABLE, his older brother is a much better actor though.
The third season is good, except for when they pick up that girl from the facebook planet. I never liked her or charley.
Overall its a good show. And the Moclan subplot IS the tear down of the transgender insanity. Season four has begun, if not finished filming by now. I'm interested to see how it plays out, especially since the hot blond first officer and Helmsman got married IRL for less than a year and divorced.
Also I love Dolly Parton and will genuinely be sad when she passes.
Oh yeah, Dolly Parton is season 3.
My biggest complaint is that season is basically 99% callbacks to the first two seasons. So if you jump in on 3 youd be completely lost.
Coyote Ragtime Show but it was only 12 episodes.
Explains why I like fantasy more!
Based.
a kid literally gets transed in the series
Yes, and it's seen as horrific, evil, and wrong.
Did...did you watch the show at all?
It's not a western or a space show really. It's more like an old noir movie in tone and plot that just so happens to take place in the future.
Nigger, you start talking about cowboys and people are going to assume it's a western. I have no idea wtf either of those things is.
You didnt watch the show.
SHE wasnt trans. SHE was a biological female fighting to STOP the trans BS.
DS9 has its share of drama and light hearted fun. It has consistently good writing and actors. It is easily the best Star Trek series.
Lower Decks is better than it should be, new, lighthearted but you need to be somewhat familiar with Star Trek for most of the jokes.
Babylon 5 was really, really good, even if the special effects weren't too good and the writing was a bit comic book style.
Firefly is okay, if short. At least Whedon couldn't fuck it up in later seasons.
The first season of Final Space was decent, stupid fun but don't bother with the rest.
The Orville is for faggot women. It’s not scifi. It’s a gay rom-com
Sci Fi was hijacked by Commies and Utopians. Futurism could just as easily lead to Corporatist Oligarchy in a fantasy setting. A ton of Sci Fi is juvenile and in your face Progressive, not because that's how the future will actually work but because it's how the writers wish it will work. Note how their equal societies almost never have a shortage of families or children due to Feminism nor incompetent non whites promoted way beyond their capabilities because the people who issue the currency want to mix everyone into a more obedient race of mutts. That would be quality Sci Fi but Progressives balk at writing such plots. They want playtime forever where weakness is strength and white men do what everyone else says.
NIGGER
Every space show is gonna have some level of kikery. Having said that, Stargate is still a classic
Your face is gay Rom Com
BABYLON 5 SHITS ALL OVER THIS
The little nigglet is ADORABLE
Ah. I see why you like The Orville now and why you erroniously think it's as good as Trek.
And the Moclan subplot IS the tear down of the transgender insanity.
Yet you cannot even begin to articulate how. Anyone who's seen the show can immediatly see this is wildly misinterpreting the shows obvious and hamfisted bias towards transvestites.
I also forgot the annoying head of security girl boss... Who is head of security because shes strong. No other reason. Tactically and strategically incompotent. Acts like a child half the time. No ability to project authority. Full of self-doubt. I think the funniest scene shes in is when her and First officer Ex Girlfriend are on an away mission on a low tech world (I think it's the space habitat one) and a hostile humvee drives right up to them. While she stands there and does nothing. Then two guys get out and point guns at them. While she does nothing. Top quality security chiefting right there. Like a deer in headlights.
i watched a shitty space horror series a few years back with a shitty girlboss captain, it had a couple of interesting elements, but cant remember the name
It's sad, but i kinda miss when the only diversity in a TV show was some white presenting mulattos. ( although I think the chick playing the prostitute was a jewess, but I didn't mind because she was hot and a jew whore playing a space prostitute was actually pretty fitting) Like as subversive as it still was, 1990s-2000s diversity in media still gave you the idea that the whites were still in charge, and the token diversity characters were just happy to be there and on their best behavior. I don't think America could ever quite be a 100 percent white ethnostate because some nigger lovers will always defend the historiocity of there being some free blacks and Indians as part of the society from the beginning, so I think at best America could achieve about a 90 percent white majority and mandate that majority be maintained in some sort of NATSOC constitution or founding charter. So we could win the country back but probably have to maintain some 1990s level of token diversity, but we could at least then make sure the negroes are more Ben Carson or Thomas Sowell caliber negros while deporting the feral gangbanger niggers to Liberia or something.
I also forgot the annoying head of security girl boss... Who is head of security because shes strong.
Alara a cute though. space elves are good, now i remember another reason.i stopped watching because she left the series, kek
At least Whedon couldn't fuck it up in later seasons.
i really wonder if thats what helps make it so loved. how could the first season and movie have been much better? the only way was down really, and anything ive seen usually does go down after a couple seasons at most.
I've been getting through Voyager again recently and it's pretty good, doesn't feel aged at all, lots of easy going episodes. Sure some of it is a mess but its comfy and solid sci-fi.
I wanted to like it but only got half way through S3, I kept falling asleep. It has its charms but it's such a slog.
i wouldn't call it good, but it was watchable
always liked voyager. the whole 'long journey home' thing always appeals to me
Voyager
i got bored with Hillary Clinton in space halfway through season 1, i heard it gets better when the big titted borg girl appears
The moclan race are all males. In the first season its discovered that some of them are born mutated and look and act like females. Moclans as a rule execute them immediatly. Bearing in mind the Moclan world is extremely harsh and punishing. This is their culture.
But because it's woke the orville presents this as immoral and wrong. Bortus, who wants to do the needfull, is a monster. All his crew ostracise him. His homosexual life partner (makes no sense why any moclan would tolerate anyone as weak as his faggy husband... Oh wait it's so they can be "the gay couple" instead of an interesting alien thing). The episode ends with Bortus capitulating and being made to feel like shit. They decide to raise the little niglet as a woman. Yay progressivism. Moclan patriarchy defeated! You go (trans)girl!
This was how the show was presented and how it was recieved in the media.
Seasons later they introduce the concept that moclans always had females and theres a secret female colony somewhere. Except this makes no sense. How can all the other moclans breed if all the females are killed at birth? If they were genetically modified to remove all female traits then how do they find the opposite sex to make eggs with? Nonsense. And clearly a response to people pointing out the unfavourable comparison to that one TNG episode that had the exact same plot (Riker fell in love with an androdynous alien from a race with no sex) and was done infinitely more intelligently with everyone reacting as normal people instead of just being mouthpieces for contemporary politics.
I will say that the last season of orville, I forget which number, was actually not as bad. The budget was certainly higher. And they seem to have entirely dropped all the lol so randumb and "weed lol fart lol" humour that plagued the original seasons. But it's still just a dumb sci fi show with none of the intelligence or philosophy that made Trek as a whole and TNG specificaly so good. TNG for idiots.
Legend of the galactic heroes.
She's cute so show is good.
This is the person who tells you it's just as good as TNG.
going to a restaurant with the missus and 3 kids
When did paying so much for microwaved slop get normalised
How is cowboy bebop a western?
Try watching Tampopo. Amazing movie, and described as a Japanese Spaghetti Western
even more hilarous once you realise that "Ferengi" isn't even an invented word. Its what Arabs (aka. Mohammedans) call all of the West. Originally it only meant "Frankians" but because of 1400 years of inbreeding, it became "Ferengi"
Wrong thread?
Yes.
And Andromeda has a great start but goes so fucking downhill in S2 wow. I liked it 20 years ago but couldn't get through it again.
Read/watch Space Battleship Yamato, Captain Harlock and Queen Emeraldas.
Fifth element, light hearted and fun, lots of action, wasn't full of woke shit
nah, Orville is shit, but space elf girl made it watchable
I haven't actually watched it in ages. I think it's got a brilliant premise and setting. Having a super advanced ship from what is essentially the Star Trek federation trapped in time until everything has decayed and fallen. Federation gone and everything has just turned to absolute shite. Such a great premise for a show. The nietzscheans I felt were especially under utilised, considering how interesting they could have been. Between them and Khan I guess Roddenberry was really hung up on the idea of a subrace of superhumans kicking the shit out of all the rest of humanity.
I got the impression that the first seasons was stuff Roddenberry had set up before he died and then after that it was more and more just what the show writers came up with.
Came here to post this
plus Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex but if O.P. Thinks DS9 is too heavy LoGH might mind break him.
Why do sex offenders have such shit taste? Startrek is the mcdonalds of scifi
newer
lol
lmao even. It's all dreck, everything's pozzed. Last time I watched actually good TV was in the early 2010s. Babylon 5 is a great alternative to DS9 and as far as I'm aware is a bit more silly than DS9 until the final arcs.
Orville has moments of unintentional based wrapped in copious amounts unbelievable cringe. Its Hollywood leftists attempting to make good natured comedy poking fun at their own beliefs. Its incredibly jarring.
I would have watched this too
variety.com
Rodenberry was a cop briefly when he was young, but a sex maniac junkie alcoholic his whole life.
the only doctor who worth watching was Tom Baker
Babylon 5
DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise
Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis
don't listen to these anons both shows are filled to the brim with insufferable globohomo messaging
It was probably Voyager. pretty forgettable show desu.
This. Besides the stupid Bajor, emissary storyline it is easy watching. Garak is easily one the best characters in the entire universe and Miles O'Brien returns.
I found it rather memorable
That's about the only reason to watch it... And ezri was still cuter.
Plain, simple garak, the humble tailor. They were originally gonna make him a fag with Dr. Jeet.
Red Dwarf is pretty funny
man, when Ezri wore that little slinky red cocktail waitress thing for the holodeck heist episode I just about fell in love... but Seven was cuter
well that would have sucked. good thing they decided to make bizarro kira a bisexual instead
the expanse was extremely reddit and anyone who thinks it's better than mediocre is a faggot
They aren't born to LOOK like females, they are born as actual females and are changed to suit the status quo. You didn't understand anything.
I liked the other one better.
Sevens chin dimple bugs me gxtwav
Battlestar Galactica is the only actually good space show. It's a mix of comedy and tragedy though so it's not "lighter hearted" all the time.
Her tits were fake and part of the costume.
Just admit you're gay and stop fetishizing tom boys. Jadzia Dax is best Dax
Easily Stargate, but only Stargate Atlantis, not SG1 or Universe. It's super comfy and light.
My point still stands. One of two things is happening. Either half the population is female, and the other half is male, and they are required to pair up in order to breed. But they look and act identical. And the government not only makes it a taboo to ask, but it's forbidden knowledge that there is even a female sex to begin with.
But still they get together in enough numbers to lay eggs and make more moclons.
Or all the females are turned into males, and the males are left as is. And magically the males can procreate with each other and make eggs somehow. Which means they aren't "males" and "females" at all. It would seem to indicate that the species has a single sex and the "females" are infact little more than a cosmetic mutation. Which was how it was portrayed in the season 1 episode IIRC.
It's just nonsense.
firefly tv series was good. andromeda too.
I cant even get through the second episode. i dont see the appeal at all. is it a reddit thing? its just bad.
do you really only care about the tits?
Jadzia was way more masculine then Ezri. Just cuz she has short hair doesn't make her a tomboy. Also Terry Farrel is a bitch who got fired from both of the only two shows she was ever on. Where as Ezri was in cube, which was awesome.
Haven't seen DS9 yet I'm just being presumptuous.
Stargate sg1
Itt we pretend to be woke
Itt I meant
The first four doctors were all good, with the first one being the only one who truly felt alien compared to his human pets.
old buck rogers starring gil gerard
archive.org
Yeah agree about Cube, she was great in it (along with David Hewlett) but how does that relate to Atlantis? Lol
Her tits were fake and part of the costume.
Her tits are real, it's her middle that is exaggerated by the costume.
In a contest between the two, just look at what they look like now. Farrell looks nuts and de Boer still looks cute.
This is about right, it’s self aware enough that it’s watchable if you enjoy 90s Trek. The globohomo stuff in the show is really just a product of its time and it even goes out of its way to create believable opposition to the progressive concepts humanity (read: the writers) has by pitting it against the cultures of other species, and asking ‘who are we to judge?’ Season 3 did kinda suck though.
Also recommending pic related, English dub is fine
I can't believe nobody mentioned Space: Above and Beyond.
youtube.com
It's basically tour of duty, but in space, fighting an alien race.
quite cool, despite the budget
sad it's so short
Missing from your picrel - Christina Hendricks (Saffron, Firefly). So hot.
I loved everything about Firefly. One of my fav TV shows of all time.
Also, boomers had this.
Oh sorry I meant to send that to the post above yours
Lexx
Firefly is woke. Despite that it's OK.
just watch start trek TOS you stupid homo
Star Wars Rebels
The netflix remake of this was pretty bad
Anime.
Shit.
Based Vir literally got his wish.
Cuts off at the Season 6.
FAIL.
netflix remake
I don't have Netflix since I don't want to give money to kikes but I bet a lot of the cast were niggers.
Nigger is the Laydeez Man
Nigger is also reluctant gewnius.
White master pilot is dumb as rocks and clueless with women.
Captain got cucked by his wife.
MUH REPUTATIONS!
Spacecuck porn.
Fuckbot won't do fuckbot things.
Typical Euro/Stralian crap.
SciFi is generally not light hearted or fun. You want Friends in space? Seinfeld in space? I mean, StarTrek usually mixes in humor. StarTrek the Next Generation is the closest I can think of.
Coalburning Superwoman.
Londo was unrepentant because his reason for being was to serve his people. Granted, he was an aristocrat so if you have a bone to pick, it may be that he didn't do his own dirty work, but that did come back to haunt him, even as emperor.
Babylon 5 is mostly a good show because it tried to always keep a balance between yin and yang. The only real exception was the two big deals, Sheridan and Delene, and they tried to make that toned down through them both having enemies that could touch them, and allies who could easily be made to betray them. Not much about that show allowed for complete ego trips.
Best place to watch it for free is at Tubi
Red Dwarf
The book is hilarious
Stargate universe
I really like the derelict ship exploring premise but if cut out half the bullshitnitneould hsve been way better. The autistic doctor who wants to be on the ship when everyone else is trying to get home is based.
Any book or tv recommendations with similar theme?
Avenue 5. It's outstanding.
Muh dik, doe!
Fucking anime shit again.
How obnoxious is the negress that's in the thumbnails for almost every single episode?
that show is very funny and the negress is one of the positives of the show. she plays the somewhat straight girl on the crew who is stunned by everyone else's incompetence (in a tasteful and comedic manner)
shame it was ended but at least it didnt go on longer than it was good for
all systems nominal
also that black girl is cute. dont disqualify cute girls with lots of great physical features just because of their skin
It's atrocious.
It's one of those bait n switch animes, that looks like it's about scifi.
But you get 2 episodes in and find out it's a shmaltzy coming of age/love story about a teenage girl who just happens to work with astronauts.
This. It's fucking disgusting. I hate The Orville.
Everyone and their mum has seen cowboy bebop.
For god's sake mate, give it a rest.
If you wanted to recommend Watanabe directed anime about space you could have said Macross Pluss, which is superior.
I want Alara to carry me like a baby.
Red Dwarf series 1-6 is pure 90s UK comfykino
also that black girl is cute. dont disqualify cute girls with lots of great physical features just because of their skin
Be careful anon ahura gave me jungle fever 30yrs ago and it messed me up.
its my favourite chinese cartoon and it has fuck all to do with space, it just happens to be there.
nothing would change about it if they were flying a magical castle and doing aerial fights on dragons.
Nah, the negress aint cute.
And lets be honest. She's the strong independant woman of colour girl boss stereotype.
You think it's a complete co-inky-dink that the ugly nigger is the one who just so happend to be smarter than everyone else and who is "stunned by everyone ele's incompotence?" C'mon.
Pictured is the other nigger woman girl boss.
The genius nigger who is supposedly the smoothest most charistmatic one of them all.
Who, when on a deep undercover mission on an undeveloped 20th century style world, decides to start humping and grinding his crotch on some random statue in a busy public park surrounded by people with phones for no reason. Putting both his own life, the life of his teammates, the mission, and first contact in jeopardy.
Also
Nigger doctor is the wisest woman anyone has ever met!!!!
Two fatherless children
"It's muh choice i dont need no man im strong independant woman"
no control over her kids, who act like little shits
check out the original Star Trek. its the real thing.
I just finished a rewatch of SG1. the comfiest show of all time
This, it also has the most subplots that don't take themselves very seriously. Looking at you Kahless' Bat' leth and the Grand Nagus' story arc.
Nothing in this 'verse more shiny than Firefly.
Yeah. O.P. just watch DS9. so good
youtube.com
I would suggest that the experience can be immensely improved by skipping any episode where Sisko goes back in time.
The We Waz SciFi Writers N Sheet one was especially bad.
The mom was originally married to a pavement ape, so Judy is half black and of course is brilliant, always saving everyone. Will is a crybaby though over the course of the show, they do stiffen him up a bit as he spend more time with the robot. Penny lusts after brown boys.
Dr. Smith is a woman, but that actually worked out pretty well, mostly because Parker Posey is actually a good actress.
That's the only episode I skipped. It was obvious within the first couple of minutes where they were going and I doubted there would be much, if anything, important to the bigger storyline in that episode.
I'm also not a fan of the Bell Riots episode for similar reasons. More heavy-handed social messaging that contributes nothing to the overall narrative of the show, and doesn't really have any interesting sci-fi stuff going on.
Her tits are the reason she was put on the show and that caused Obama to get elected. Its a funny old world.
I remember farscape being really cool.
You are literally a moron.
Yes, check out The Orville for maximum comfy.
Big brain arguments from the standard Orville enjoyer scholar.
Sometimes people enjoy things you don't... Even Trek fans.
Newer Sci-fi.
Sorry man, even B series stuff like Falling Skies, V, Dark Matter are all pozzed. Some not as bad as what they made Foundation out to be but it's inescapable in the genre, especially if you're looking for a light hearted Firefly knockoff. Most of it is all post apocalyptic nonsense or some foreign world building extinction type thing (Raised by Wolves). Straight up space stuff you're probably better off with Stargate, Babylon, or Farscape. Teacup is newer and technically SciFi, wasn't bad comparatively but not really light. Really not a lot of actual space stuff out there.
Are you going to have a cry that I dont like your gay little braindead family guy star trek parody show?
SIR YOU ARE COMMITTING GENOCIDE
I'M ABOUT TO FIRE TWO MORE ACTS OF GENOCIDE!
Sisko best Capt.
Not my problem
I hold what happened to Kes against leftists.
You may think it's the surface level narrative of 7of9 easy replacement narrative of Kes for blonde sexpot.
You may even realize their pedo story wasn't flying with viewers.
None of the above: Kes' actress wanted to go to college whereupon she got the real leftist indoctrination which turned her into the white trash monstrosity pic related on the left, crawling through bushes and wrecking cars hopped up on SSRIs angry overlooked dyke feminism and exposing herself to kids or whatever, she had more than one mental episode. A fucking shame.
Here's a list, might include other's suggestions
Farscape
Battlestar Galactica
Babylon 5
Red Dwarf
Orville
I always preach that Babylon 5 is better than DS9 because of the modern, before it's time character arcs. They came out at the same time because the writers had a disagreement and split up. They both essentially made the same show and stole from eachother.
Farscape and Stargate are where non-leftist sci fi peaked.
The Dune series from Sci-Fi is mentionable.
BG remake is good, not exactly woke but they were obv. starting to get their hooks in at that time.
Seemed like it was your problem when you got all triggered and called me a moron because I pointed out how poor the writing was on your favorite Cleveland Show In Space Mcfarlane vehicle.
I dunno man, Neelix is a hell of a drug.
Don't get me wrong, I liked Neelix, but either do it anime don't give a fuck style, or don't do it at all.
She was into rejecting him creepy uncle style when they cut the narrative and her part completely. It was pretty telling some leftist writing was going to be given priority then.
What was it replaced with? The same shit with Janeway on 7of9 anyway, lol.
Has the one of the best baddies of all TV sci-fi history.
Triggered
Spotted the zoom zoom
Never did catch the remake. I'd agree on that peak, there's a few movies that slip through these days that are occasionally tolerable, but that's about it. Would say none of them qualify as light either. Anything that might be considered family viewing gets shot up full of globohomo.
If OP wanted dog shit pozzed series I'd have a proper list. Lmao. Start with Defiance.
Is there anything at least decent made past 2010?
The Silent Sea wasn't bad. Not light though. Also it's Korean so if you don't like subs, sol. The only newer one I can think of.
They came out at the same time because the writers had a disagreement and split up. They both essentially made the same show and stole from eachother.
Fascinating, I didn't know that.
I was a B5 guy back in those days
but it's hardly light sci fi.
Shhhh he doesn't need to know about the final act yet.
The Orville was extremely comfy and surprisingly soulful for a Seth MacFarlane project.
It's a rehash of Star Trek in tone and plot, but it had some really nicely written episodes and stories. (again, Seth mainly wrote the good ones somehow)
But if you're looking for some lighthearted sci-fi kino made after the 90s-00s, I think it fits the bill.
Communist Midget or whatever it's called is pretty lighthearted.
The downside is that you have to listen to a sooty scouser pine over zesty jeetslop every 5 minutes
that show sucked almost as much as you do
Modern nu/pol/ is beyond parody
recommend me spaceshit
validate my decades old spaceshit nostalgia
Read books, old books.
They are much much better and the best thing is that there is so many of them you never run out.
Easily Stargate, but only Stargate Atlantis
I think that might just be nostalgia talking. I watched the entire series pretty much blind a couple years ago and SG-1 is consistently better in just about every way than Atlantis. Kolya episodes are fun, Todd episodes are really fun and Atlantis has probably a top 3 episode in the entire series with the Rodney comes down with the childhood virus episode, but other than that it's just not as good as SG-1 on average. Part of it might be my hatred for that mid 2000s Malcom in the Middle fad where everyone's yelling all the time but even trying to control for that Atlantis just isn't as good. I'm not going to say it's bad but you're crazy if you think it's obviously better than SG-1. Personally I probably would have dropped it sometime in the 2nd season I'm pretty sure if I wasn't already 8 seasons deep into SG-1 and using a watch guide that weaves the episodes so you're not missing info due to the way the show originally broadcasted.
I like Universe even less because it only leans even harder into the yelling melodrama we want the BSG audience bullshit even if some of the concepts are cool. It's a shame it got cancelled right after the episode where it seems like they were finally firing on all cylinders. The capitol bombing communication stone episode was actually good though.
This movie is TOP humor.
SG-1 was good most of the time, a few stinkers here and there that get overwhelmed by the sea of comfy that is most everything else. It did however take a turn for the worse when jews took over production in the later seasons and created the Ori storyline to bash Christians. There were still good episodes but the jew stink was ever present.
Is there anything at least decent made past 2010?
best thing since star gate universe
OP is looking for something lighter. B5 was a dark show.
Neelix
the most tarded looking alien ever (good actor tho) which in turn put me off voyager and since i did not watch tv much during those years then i confused voyager with enterprise so i did not watch any of those when they were on tv
she was so fine in that one
all woman needs is a good hairstyle and bimbo attitude
I was meh about Voyager. They really couldn't top DS9
Not really. The best stuff is unironically animation meant for kids
Though not about space 'Tales from the Loop' is pretty good. Skip episode 6 "Parallel" as it's a bunch of gay insert shit and nothing that happens in that episode is of consequence to the series story arc.
Lexx
by far the best sci-fi show but baarely gets mentioned
that's how u know it's good
when the normie sci-fi cattle don't watch it
The outer limits is kino. Not exactly space all the time, but in that vein of cozy sci-fi mystery thriller
This show is pozzed and sucks balls. When I realized everyone cried for everything all the time that was the beginning of the end
season 3 wwas dogshit though
Part of it might be my hatred for that mid 2000s Malcom in the Middle fad where everyone's yelling all the time
god i hated that shit too but normies ate it up
partly why i hated the last stuff Lynch did - bunch of overblown yelling and shit acting
better not be talkin shit about David Lynch unless you can back it up
"We'll have pizza, and margarita shooters!"
unless you can back it up
i fkn can, faggot
his shit was mostly good, but his cartoons, plus the return were of that blatant bullshit abrasive ilk mentioned
he just got old, no big deal
Redo Healer.
Ds9 was great
Cisco was awesome and not a nigger
GOOLD?
Stargate sg-1 replaced TNG as my favorite sci-fi show. That's a high fucking bar. Sg-1 is just that good.
Outlaw Star. Wish it was longer, felt like it should have been.
It's like a scene from an anime filler episode.
I liked bab-5 but man, it's the sappy ending that sells it. Any random episode is just, meh.
SG1 was good when it was just the main story archs for each season. All those filler episodes are just the usual scifi tropes we've all seen a million times.
If I think TNG is only so-so might I like DS9? Like sometimes TNG gets boring and feels dated
Farscape could pretty easily be adapted into an anime. The tone and character designs are almost made for it. But doing so would be a waste of all the work they put into makeup and the elaborate puppets.
I've seen his ass, he can
something seemingly lighter hearted
Farscape, although you could tell the writers were on LSD most of the time. prosthetics aged quite well since it was made by the Jim Henson Company.
BSG is much more serious in tone (other than Baltar, my fave character), it's basically a space opera and different altogether but still very good.
Doctor who only S1-4. rest is shite.
Didn't watch and of the new stuff like The Orville.
SW shows are pure trash, I guess if you must then watch the Mandalorian and Andor only.
iceland won
you lost
It's basically a live action anime already, with the puppets they did special effects aplenty. You've got your evil spider women and tentacle rapists and everything in Farscape. It has goofy boner episodes like anime too.
There's the Ark which got super lesbian and retarded with kitchen beating stranger danger. There's Upload, but it becomes overcontrived on a single man slapping himself stupid to figure out his own problem. My personal favorite syfy is Severance, which released it's s2 3 months ago. Mixes supernatural with biotech-work jokes.
update flash news
Imagine being born in this time period and not enjoying the absolute peak of cinema which is objectively deep space 9
i skipped through nearly every single scene with the frog voice bitch. couldnt take it at all. also later in the series there were a few episodes that were only about naomi or whatever the black bitches name was. i skipped through those as well. it was pretty meh
ctrl+f "Scavengers Reign" 0/0

Avrisala is the only character with balls in the whole book or tv series.
*aside from Bobby Draper*
Dark Matter isn't THAT bad, and the main chick is sexy.
BSG is part of the Jew Jew abrams school of writing.
Pointless feels, mystery boxes galore, rugpull finale.
Imagine watching the last season of game of thrones over and over.
The good sf culminated with Babylon 5 and Farscape.
While it's mostly woke, girl-boss nonsense filled with diverse, bumbling male characters, star trek below decks isn't bad.

Talk about dark...
Watching this made me feel VERY uncomfy.
The way it warps you into thinking that this shit is normal and accepted in their world drew parallels to our very own western culture.
When they collapsed the "light" galaxy, that's when shit really went off the rails.
It was a great show, but damn...
the dark ending of it all.
It just left you sort of speechless.
To heavy for most people.
youtube.com
the dark ending of it all.
that's why it's good
the whole thing was dark from the beginning
i need to rewatch it but some bullshit irl shit always happens that prevents me every time i get through the first few eps
