Researchers now say this does not fully show the capabilites of different AIs. They did not fully understand what they were supposed to do, if they did, they would have done it. Claude has the best capability to understand a human language so thats why he did best. The others are just as good if you manage to get them understand the exact situation.

That's how it can do. Simulate intelligence with its given dataset but that's not what defines human intelligence. It is superficial as you said. AI in its current state will just be a chatbot which can help workers. It won't be able to replace them. That's an AGI, and if we get an AGI then jobs like physicists, and CEO will be in danger of being replaced by a thinking machine.

One thing that just occurred to me is: Everyone agrees that LLMs can converse and even have pretty in-depth conversations, but we all know there is no actual consciousness here. Or, you don't need consciousness for conversation, and therefore LLMs prove the NPC meme is probably real.

I don't think we are going to end in another space exploration scenario (that literally sky rocketed and then halted for decades), a lot of new technologies are going to be combined and solve what halted all those paths.
