very sensible post and I agree. Especially about the 90 days going cold turkey.
What I find the most interesting about the rhetoric coming from the white house on this, is that apparently: "the world is SCREWING the US!". In reality, it is just trade. It is mutually beneficial - that's why we all do it.... Sure, China has disguising practices to make cheap shit, un-environmentally friendly, with slave labor and a manipulated currency without buying much from the rest of world.
With that said .... These are the terms that Americans have been happy with for several decades since Kissinger opened up China. So how are they getting screwed now again?
Its a huge boon for America and the rest of world, in terms of buying goods, that we can buy it cheaply from China. Its been great for business.
Anyway, its been mentioned several times by smarter people before, but to leave the bringing back of manufacturing to the US to the markets is foolish - no government oversight or agencies to hold corporations accountable. No thought out frameworks or anything. This entire thing is reckless. And while I agree with the premise, that the US should probably invest in its own infrastructure, steel mills and such things, I think Trump has gone the wrong way about this and used the stick more than the carrot.
We are already seeing that nations are not willing to make deals with the exception of maybe Norway. China will not bow to the US, and Im pretty sure Trump knows that.
To me, it all looks like a global scam. Just another "reason" behind why there will be a financial crisis later on. Another reason to print cheap money etc etc. Its every 4 years now that this happens after all.
Gay rant/ Blogpost over.
