We need to get rid of the Rockefeller schedule. I worked a job doing 4 10 hour shifts and having 3 day weekends every week, I should've never quit. That was such a fucking luxury it didn't feel like the job was too much effort, because it felt like I almost had half a week to myself. After 6 hours my brain was fucked though. But if we could cut every job down to 32 hours, or better 24 hours per week, you'd feel like a fucking king who actually has a life to live. I'm doing a 5 day a week job with 1 hour commute both ways which comes up to 50-55 hours a week depending on traffic and my life is just suffering on top of suffering. Too much is building up and I have to find some other alternative even if it means accepting less in life. I don't even own my own life, 5/7 days are dedicated to work and they often call me in on one of my weekends and I can't say no or I'm fired.

It's how on work days most people just don't have the time or energy to do anything besides household chores, taking care of their kids and passive entertainment like consuming media. Take the weekendpill. You work 2×12 hours in the weekend and then you have 5 days off, every week. The pay is the same as 5x8 hours a week. You only have to commute to your work twice. You have no rush hour traffic and you can do your groceries and errands in the week, while it's calm and the 9 to fivers are at work. 1 day for cleaning your house and clothes and you still have 4 days left. I used to look down on it because the weekend were holy. A time to meet up with friends. Now that I'm older, my friends are married and with kids and we don't meet up anymore there is no reason for me to work five days a week anymore if I can earn the same working 2 days. Granted it's 12 hour shifts instead of 8 hours, but that pales in comparison to having a 5 day holiday, every week. But you do miss social gatherings sometimes.
