All biological life can set some parameters of how it interacts with its environment more efficiently. For humans we invented tools and weapons that aided our survival by simply playing around with objects on the ground. God just set the parameters in the laws of physics, but the universe itself is a free for all sandbox for any species that evolves to a higher level within it. Think of it this way... When white men become really angry their skin turns red due to increased heart rate and elevated levels of the stress hormone cortisol. Similarly an Octopus can change its skin to camoflauge in its environment to evade predators. Our skin changes colour too, just in a more ridiculous way at this point in evolution.
