I took it with grain of salt, because starting a war over some island seems like retarded idea (duh), but when private companies starts abanding some huge market with such precission, it means some serious shit is about to get real.

If Nintendo thought there'd be war they sell as many online services as they could, safe in the knowledge they wouldn't have to deliver. They wouldn't phase it out and give compensation.

I don’t really think so. China is pretty consistent on what they claim. Besides Taiwan there are some border regions with India and Bhutan they claim and the “islands” in the South China Sea. They’ve always claimed this territory so these aren’t new claims. I think it would be difficult for them to suddenly introduce new claims out of the blue. Not saying it’s impossible but without a history of decades of claiming something it’s pretty hard for a country to make a serious case for it. Unless you are just going to brute force conquer it like Putin.
