Not in Sweden, because we have rent controls. You're talking like it's a free market. Well it's fucking not. Nobody bids on anything. Landlords charge the maximum legal amount, always, because there is a constant shortage due to the controls. You cannot negotiate at all.
Besides the heavy renovation you have to do yourself because labour is too expensive, you'd also need two cars because there's only 4 busses per day out in the fucking boonies, also no jobs except taking care of old people. I'd say the running cost on a house like that is 2k usd and you'd never sell with a profit. Add countless hours of diy and fucking up.
