- write the children as children and the adults as adults. Children are naive, genuine, and powerless. Adults are practical, cautious, unwilling to change, and powerful.

- No stupid characters. Never have a character do anything that a real person wouldn't consider.

Early seasons felt effortlessly funny/clever.

Forget the fact some of the jokes are crude and pay attention to the actual comic timing and construction of the jokes. Much better early on.
