I too miss the 90s/early2000s of based gamedev, especially since teams were like 10-20 guys. That size of group meant more individual passion went in to every product and everyone was coordinated on the same vision.
These days the big companies have hundreds of people working on little bits of every game and you can definitely feel it while playing: there's no soul in the games now and it feels like a product that's rolled off an assembly line rather than passionate art project.

In the Soviet Union and its extended belt of puppets we had a Byzantine administration where the administration was full of completely unnecessary jobs that generate fake employment, and these jobs were almost always staffed by miserable women. Men found it vitalistic to do the trades and it was like a badge of pride because they were industrializing the communist society and proving that it worked, whereas women, even under feminism (communism was feminist btw in case you didn't know), just refused to do them. This created an imbalance where a feminist system had to sell itself as a wage gap-destroying equal employment-ensuring utopia, and they resolved it by creating all of these bullshit bureaucratic jobs and staffing them with just women.
Well HR is literally that pretending to be a "free market" initiative. Your country became a centralized command economy in 2008, for the same reason that the Soviet Union did, it's just that you haven't caught up to it yet. It's not even Soros or some cancerous left that manages to infect everything, it's your federal reserve giving preferential loans to Blackrock, which invests only if the company meets a diversity criteria, with that diversity criteria being possible only through HR departments that are needed by no one because it is physically impossible to find so many women that can code. Oh and your government also mandates diversity quotas directly. This leads to the creation of a Byzantine bureaucracy directly superimposed on top of the market itself.
