US military switches its main rifle to the SIG XM7 rifle, soldiers are not happy with it

Why is the US government adopting a rifle that the average soldier does not like even going as far as to say the rifle is "unfit for service" to which soldiers are asking for their old M4's back. The top brass of the US military knows the XM7's many drawbacks and the fact the average soldier doesn't care for it but they are going through with adopting the rifle anyway, why? What is the point in ignoring all the warning signs and forcing a rifle into the hands of the people who are going to be doing all the fighting but they hate the weapon they've had handed to them?

everyone and there mother knows that this was just a back door way of getting the rifle into the procurement system so they could use it as a dmr

does he hint at corruption at all in the video?

kickbacks to some politician who owns the company / related etc

always is. cronyism is alive and well.

Call of booty

the fuck is with zogbots and their stupid finger over the iron sight?

two fucking decades ago the XM8 was supposed to be the new standard

CURRENT YEAR they decide to use the XM7

I know the US military is fucking retarded, but this goes beyond that.

Grunt McFucking Moron always hates the new rifle until it gets through it's initial teething issues. Then they pretend it was always great and act like they've always loved it. This was true for the M-16, the M1 Garand and the Springfield 1903. The only exception was the M-14, which had legitimate quality issues during it's short service life.

You push against the front of the gun when your standing up it provides more stable support and fine control when doing snap fire. The modern zogbot is a mindless drone who stands upright like old readcoats in the revolutionary war, you don't maneuver or hide behind cover(things which don't allow rounds to pass thru). They don't do bounding overwatch or covering fire. They just call of duty snap shot like a 'chad', jump into their armored vehicles and then call in an airstrike.

XM7

muh rifle's a bit heavy

why can't mutts carry weight? i did the AT and had around 30lb on me at all times. i constantly had gay mutts asking me gay questions about why i don't use their latest piece of gay ultralite gear, also going on about gay trail names all the fucking time. i was gonna do the PCT a few years later but i decided i just couldn't take the gayness of mutts. so my question is why are mutts so gay about weight, it's surprising really with the amount of body weight most of them carry?

Typical eurocuck with his complete lack of knowledge about using the only tools that can ensure self determination.

It’s a C-clamp grip and it doesn't block the front sight at all. What you are seeing is the front sight folded down because he’s using the vortex LPVO (low power variable optic) instead. Those irons are back up sights in case the optic breaks or fails.

C clamping is immensely superior to any other grip, it just requires some muscle to hold it there for a while. Superior recoil control.

With this drone footage even contemplating this piece of shit is deranged. Shotguns with buckshot in drums needs to become standard kit.

Why are lardass US Army generals who haven't ran a PT test since they were 40 pushing a shit rifle even SIG scratches their heads at so that they could get paid by defense contractors to afford a brand new McMansion on Fort McGoy while their soldiers live in moldy barracks?

I don't know OP I just don't know.

Hell no you did not just post this retard sell out.

He fucked over Task & Purpose big time and slandered the company in his new video. He thinks he can steal viewers and force unsubscriptions, in a court of law that is proof of damages.

I hate that little weasel, wimping around all the politics and only focusing on his stupid opinions.

I urge you all to not take him seriously and click "Do not recommend this channel" when you see one get pushed through to your feed. And do not post him here when most of us hate the guy

Truth but also FUCK sig for fucking up my M17. Should have just got a glock.

Buncha fucking SIGGERS over there

Who cares? Good news enemies of DC

They decided they have to have a different ammo system than the 90 million 5.56 users in the US. Our next war isn't against china, its a civil war. And they don't want civilians picking up ammo off the dead or out of captured depots/tranports and using those rounds against them.

This also explains why the rifles wear down so fast btw. They want it that way so its shit by the time someone domes a zogbot and claims a nice 'new' rifle and find out its utter gutter trash. They don't expect zogbots to win the war with rifles, but with airpower only. Civilians are going to win direct engagements every time without heavy support, so they are minimizing 'the enemy' capturing resources to be used against them even more effectively than their own cholo sergeants can. Also, more money when each one gets replaced thru shit tier resilience of equipment.

The Sig Spear is a specialist tool with a specialist cartridge that works best in limited applications and with great care paid to maintenance, especially barrel.

Giving it to grunts was a retarded idea and I know several professional ground pounders who tried to sound that alarm. It's a solution in search of problems. Grunts need a grunt rifle.

There’s no lie here but I highly doubt it was actually this intentional, just bad procurement and bad decisions due to incompetence, greed, or both.

Once all the good ol farm boys get some Support by fire/assault element training they’re going to be borderline unstoppable. The “American RPK” build with 18 inch heavy barrels, tri/quad stack mags or drum mags, bipods, and FRT triggers is enough to do the job of an M249. Battlefield pickups might not even be needed except for grenades and explosives.

cringe and gay behavior

too big and heavy for manlets

I haven’t seen much evidence as far as I can tell most regular rifles are not really favored by the troops. Especially since there always is the question about precision/range and intensive fire suppression/support roles. Some think quality isn’t the same anymore and they indeed did move their plants, as far I can tell, although they say it was due to energy and other „production“ cost due to European standards. But it’s hard to tell without doing intensive tests.

An infantryman carries 50lbs on the low end, many carry around 100lbs of gear. Not comparable to your faggy backpacking.

Infantry weapons

in drone warfare

They know infantry will be useless in the future.

they wont get a chance to wear them out and they wont be worth picking up either.

Just adopt the P90 already and go explore the galaxy you faggots.

The rifle is good. Very good even. There is no rifle that doesn't have positives and negatives... this rifle is ideal for modern large scale combat against armored peer adversaries, and/or fighting a counter insurgency in a very spread out place like Afghanistan where a flatter firing round with better ballistics down range are better than 5.56... does it have downsides, absolutely, but most of the complaints are bullshit in my opinion.. what actually soldier, on the ground, gives a shit how many rounds a barrel can take?? No, that's a complaint from someone who gives a shit about the cost.

The valid criticism is that the ammo is heavier and less ammo = less ability to lay down suppressive fire... but the counter is what good is suppressive fire when you don't have the range to lay it down effectively? What good is fire if you can't penetrate modern plates?

Idk the criticisms just all seem very... disingenuous

Perhaps, but it’s already a compromise with small guys in mind. Originally 7,62mm was used, but they couldn’t carry it so they introduced 5,56mm and it turned out to be too weak in most situations. So now the M7 has 6.8mm as in between solution.

this rifle is ideal for modern large scale combat against armored peer adversaries

like american citizens

and/or fighting a counter insurgency in a very spread out place like Afghanistan where a flatter firing round with better ballistics down range are better than 5.56

like fighting american citizens

It's graft. Whoever signed off on this will get a well-paid consulting job at Sig Sauer once he retires.

nice one, i regularly carry 35kgs up small bong mountains. the issue with the M7 is weight, why are you so gay about it?

Yeah I was skeptical of the intentions for larger rounds the moment they said they need to counter "modern body armor" when our biggest enemy's favorite tactic is having human meat shields that will never have body armor.

They need to develop shot-gun rounds for assault rifles. Possibly magazines will be a mix of tracers and small and larger sized buckshots. It will be a huge engineering challenge perhaps weapons will also need some mechanism to stabilize the weapon against the body on a second point in order to enable hits on fast approaching drones. Larger visors which enable better awareness of the surrounding will also be needed against swarms. Possibly ai supported aiming will also become a thing.

Irrelevant - you just throw bodies at it until you win. Army can give them spears and rocks and have the same outcome. US lost in Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Mogodishu

Corruption. They're getting kickbacks.

there's always a backlash, people don't like change

don't want the XM8

let's try the XM7 instead

Why are they doing backwards?

Well also consider the amount of fast approaching troops in formation on open terrain usually isn’t stopped by small arms in modern battles. Most of the time its elite, scouting or other urban combat teams battling it out with these small arms. However increasingly they tend to use copious amounts of hand-grenades, rocket propelled grenades, improvised large packets of explosives or anti-tank/similar stuff for the most part. These extensive battles with both a lot of hand-grenades and small arms fire are rare; it seems barley any Russian units are capable of them any more and even in Ukraine it’s maybe small teams, which are still capable of doing that. But its rarely seen.

actual answer from an actually trained person here: it's not so much about the C shape your hand makes (that's why the thumb is wrapped over the top) it's more about locking the elbow
locking the elbow gives you skeletal leverage on the gun. if your elbow is bent you're using just your arm/shoulder muscles and you'll fatigue a lot faster. if you lock the elbow the weight of the gun transfers to your skeleton and you can hold the position a lot longer.

all that while chugging tea? wow

Who, Israel?
Yeah fuck the kikes, I agree. This rifle is pretty gay and jewy, you have a point. It’s ironic since your average diaper wearing circumanlet can’t even lift the weapon lol

They only ordered like 100k so this almost makes sense.

A soldiers job is to follow orders not to complain

the average soldier does not like even going as far as to say the rifle is "unfit for service" to which soldiers are asking for their old M4's back.

Tale old as time. Stop complaining and go die for israel with your cheap plastic lowest bidder highest bribe gun now, zogbot.

yes i like a cuppa, why are you mutts so gay about carrying weight?

I can't believe they made it so fucking heavy. It weights about twice as much as an M4. The casings for the new rounds are prone to explode inside the chamber, which renders it inoperable and the factory suppressor it's fitted with is ill-suited for handling the heat, causing baffle strikes which ruins its effectiveness.
There's tons of other reason like OP said the troops field testing it say it's a piece of shit they don't want. This is the SCAR all over again. It's almost as if they're not paying attention to anything they've ever learned from weapons development programs of the past. Brought to you by the same people who thought ACU was a legitimate camouflage pattern probably, kek.

prone to

Any data? I heard it’s not uncommon to happen with many riffles especially given certain environments/environmental conditions and intensive fire.

That’s incredibly false and retarded. Bent elbows on non firing hand (c grip hand) is trained in US special operation units. It’s not just bent, it’s exaggeratedly bent. This is standard operating procedure in Ranger Regiment, which gets its firing instructions directly from CAG. The point is that with a bent elbow, you have much more control for switching targets in small spaces in quick succession. My source I was a Ranger and learned from cag to bend my elbow.

For those interested the same was allegedly very common with M4A1s used by special forces. They rebuild the hole thing (made it much heavier) because it was considered close to unusable for many of their missions. I have seen some people speculate, but little with regards to hard facts. Here in Germany was a similar discussion basically the G36 can take extensive use very well structurally, but some units reported an abnormal behavior during long fire fights in hot conditions. So if you fire very long bursts or use continuous mode and rapidly burn through 3 or more magazines in very hot climates the accuracy drops slightly.

Without the scope and the silencer on the rifle it is only a tad bit lighter than an M14 which is made of wood and steel and the XM7 is heavier than an AR10. What is the point of this rifle if 7.62 battle rifles are around the same weight as it?

The first video OP linked talks about all the feedback the troops are reporting. I'm sure they can fix these issues, but reducing the overall weight of the "full package" they're aiming on delivering our troops might not be possible. And that could be a problem. I'm doing the mental math and I wanna say this is clocking in somewhere around 2-4 lbs heavier than an M4 w/ a 30 rd mag and same attachments.

everybody has 5.56 are

switch to special meme round to mitigate loot from the boots

Well reports. But it’s hard to tell, who knows if they did have anything specific in mind, which they did compare it to. Possibly some mounted machine gun. I think there is definitely a trade off. Maybe there could be room for optimization, but a single weapon coming in at roughly 500k is also ridiculous. And than there is the question of assault rifles in future of combat in general. Most targets nowadays tend to be either far away, behind cover or approach rapidly from above.

yeah i really care a lot about this

the poopeeX713 is way better than the reminchester 917 (5 grain NOT the redux)

but boy let me tell you ohhh if you put 308 blackouts in the XZ69 boy that thing can shoot! yeeehawwww partner
