Marx's actual thoughts on human nature are more complex than communists present them. It's less about a system fitting human nature but about a particular human nature emerging under a particular system. You get a kind of capitalist human nature under capitalism where people are greedy and overly competitive. One could argue feudalism gave a different kind of human nature where people were more servile but communal. The point of communism is to create an economic system which produces the most desirable kind of human nature in the people.

Ideally you have conservative, liberal(like pro-free trade, and pro business) and socialists parties and their policies get balanced out by voters, that isn't perfect but seems to be the least worst option. Letting either one of them have too much power leads to poor outcomes.
