When the average person(NPC) is pressed on what sucks about communism, they'll evoke images of Soviet Russia. Famine, iron curtain, oppression, oligarchy. But how do these things even correlate to communism in the first place? If you have a dictator, or a single party, or you're starving people, you sure fucking aren't the voice of the working class which was supposed to be the whole point of communism.

The reality is there's a collective, ultimate brainwashing to make people think that an economic system built by the little guy, for the little guy is a bad thing. Because communism only has examples of it being done poorly or in bad faith, that means that we're simply incapable of improving past capitalism in the first place, ignoring that capitalism is causing the very same issues in countries around the world.

I'm not making any claims on what brand of communism/socialism works, because the entire field is under-researched. The very label of communism is poison. Doesn't that scream manipulation to you guys? You scream how the holocaust is fake because you're banned from talking about it, but communism has a social stigma in every country in the world somehow even though the overwhelming majority have no firsthand experience with any version at all. The main problem with original marxism/leninism/bolschevism is that it‘s first principles and assumptions about human nature and reality are simply incompatible with natural law. It’s not a viable way to organize society politically or economically. It is however very viable as a power seizure tool for an elite fringe group, via mobilization of the working population.

Meanwhile soviet communism/stalinism was actually quite viable and effective in certain areas, mainly because they dropped most of the retarded ideological marxist/egalitarian baggage (they kept a little for show) and basically just reorganized into a centralized military hierarchy. So in a certain sense, modern commiefags are right that it wasn‘t „real“ communism. Because real communism basically collapsed immediately after it got into power and its remaining fanatics purged by military dictatorship.

The reason communism sucked is that it is terrible at the valuation and allocation of resources. People did make things, things that were made did not get distributed. A market is a much more efficient tool for this and it creates a feedback loop that builds upon itself. This problem plagued every attempt to implement it. All arguments of fairness or human nature aside this is why centralized command economies did not work.

But that was then. Now we have computers and data science. While I wouldn't want to live under it I'd be happy to watch a nation give it a try. When you think about budget or simply moving resources walmart or amazon are far larger economies than the ussr ever was. Orders of magnitude larger. Internally they are centralized planned economies. They react faster than consumers in predicting demand in order to produce, stock, and deliver goods. To wait for consumer feedback would be too slow to respond, and create grave and wasteful missteps. Sometimes they even drive the demand themselves. All with unprecedentedly low amounts of waste. Compared to any system in the history of humanity. Maybe it could be scaled up and meet human needs better than a free market.

There are almost no social consequences for self-identifying as a communist or for being branded as a communist by others. I should add that I use the terms "communism" and "capitalism" begrudgingly because that's how people today seem to speak. When I say "communism" I just mean government planning, not literal equality. When I say "capitalism" I just mean market liberalism, not any arbitrary system where inequality exists and tends to compound.

A similar mechanism to what you described is relevant to mass migration. Mass migration reduces existing citizens' share of the vote, and this allows the government to break free from citizen control. Governments don't want to be slaves to the people, they want the people to be slaves to them. Every democratic government is thus "trying" to become a dictatorship. It's like the ring trying to get back to sauron. If a population of 1m gets 1m immigrants then suddenly the original people's control over their government has just dropped by half. Since the government controls which immigrants get in, they can always choose immigrants with a political culture that aligns with their own agenda, so they don't need to worry about being "controlled" by the new arrivals. Through this method any democratic government can become unaccountable to its original citizens.
