Jets aren't that important. Missile and radar tech is all that matters. If both sides have sufficiently advanced tech and supplies to reliably fire, lock on, and shoot down the jet, they automatically achieve deterrent status which will guarantee that less of them will be used, especially in direct raids. Jets ultimately are missile and bomb platforms. The upside is that they're reusable, meaning that the missile or bomb doesn't have to be larger and more advanced and contain all of its relevant fuel to fly all the way from the ground. There's probably also a targeting aspect involved with it, further cheapening the missile's cost and possibly even increasing its payload. But if it can be tracked and locked on, it will be shot down. Nothing man made is infallible. Wunderaffe does not exist.
