still believing in vaporware battery tech

OMG I'M ABOUT TO NEW BATTERY TECH ALL OVER THE MARKET UGHHHH. JUST ONE MORE ROUND OF FUNDING AND I'M GOING TO UHHHHGHH

It's cute how they try so hard to make EVs seem like magical futuristic tech, despite it being nothing new. Electricity is not even green energy.

I read the article. There are some serious limitations that have to be overcome before this becomes a reality.

Every other fucking day more bullshit about battery improvements.

Guess what niggers. NO country on EARTH has the power grid to make any of this work. You hear stories like "New battery tech to recharge 300 mile car battery in just 10 minutes!". No country has the kind of power lines required for that. Furthermore total power generation capacity isn't enough either. So it's a twofold issue.

A fully electric car fleet only happens when we have distributed fusion plants or some other science fiction nonsense.

Thank God. My dad kept making fun of me when I showed him my new electric mustang. He actually showed up in his 67 mustang to show me what a real muscle car is. Can't wait to rub it in his face that electric cars now get 3k miles to a charge. Btw gas fags, electric is faster. I cant wait to trade in his boomer stang for the new electric dodge charger when the time comes

nice link you retarded piece of shit why don't you do us all a favor and delete yourself

How many miles before it explodes?

Every electric vehicle I’ve seen looks fucking gay.

Why would I want a 69 dodge charger that sounds like my wife’s hair dryer?

Sub 100 charge cycles. Then you need a new battery, which costs more than the car brand new, writing off the vehicle in the process. Then you have to buy a new car. It's quite convenient.

Btw gas fags, electric is faster.

Lmao.
youtu.be/LXMJCZowwwA?t=47

Look up 0 to 60 tomes in teslaa and the electric mustang. I'm faster than you

*Available in 2450

Yeah Tesla has been able to provide 1000 plus miles for years now, for some reason I can’t figure out they decided to limit people to 300 miles per charge
The innovation may be in speed changing

the 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E can go from 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds

The 0 to 60 times on an F1 car is below 2 seconds. The F1 car can go 0 to 60 and back to 0 before your precious little electric mustang gets to 60.

With that much stored energy, when they explode its gonna be mini nukes. Cool.

That sounds like a bomb if it gets an internal short.

tesla model x plaid, 350mi range 95kwh battery pack

I'll round it to 100kwh. That's going to be a 1 megawatt hour battery.

If it discharged all energy over the course of 1 second, that would be 1,000,000 joules, or 250 hand grenades going off.

Superconductor batteries are even more dangerous, because they can discharge an internal short even faster.

Mogged

Leave it to a German to fervently preach and support all the new ways your government can keep you on a leash.

100 charge cycles

100 3,000 mile charges is 300,000 miles of lifetime. That actually sounds great.
I'd be more concerned with what happens if it fails. That much energy being released all at once would blow up yourself and the 10 cars around you when you crash.

back to 0 before your precious little electric mustang gets to 60

Must be Niki Lauda driving

I did rough math.

I don't think electric cars are an inherently bad idea
to be fair having a car you can recharge for free using panels on your roof sounds pretty based to me
but there are two main issues
first, the tech isn't there yet, as in batteries good enough. Maybe this one is the breakthrough, maybe not
second is instead of making them simple, reliable and easy to repair (in which they could easily surpass any ICE car) they insist on turning them into computers on wheels chokefull of both expensive and complicated electronics

dunno.png - 560x407, 12.61K

New technology makes cars even more affordable and cool.

How is it over? It is a beginning!

That's pretty good I guess. My gas car I paid $5000 for 10 years ago still only costs me $50 in gasoline per month so I don't care.

Electricity is not even green energy

Gas burns far cleaner and more efficiently in a power plant compared to an ICE. Even if every vehicle became electric and we built nothing but new fossil fuel plants to keep up with the increased power demand, it would still be a big net reduction in emissions

But people think it is green energy for some reason. Next time the subject gets brought up IRL, watch the blank stares when you tell them electricity isn’t green energy. And ask them where they think electricity comes from.

It doesn't though.
There is no compression in a gas plant and the amount of hydro carbons released in tot he atmosphere on start up negate any "green" benefits they may have had.

No matter what science / technology comes up with in making civilization more gay, it will never overcome classical mechanics translated to transportation, IE the bicycle, literally as abstract efficient and reliable as you can get, in that it makes the person using it MORE EFFICIENT by using your heart and lungs and muscles and tissues to power it, electric vehicles are the gayest and most wasteful thing... cars are OOOOBER gay boomer bummer tech, I can't think of something more gay that we are required to use just to tread water

How do you figure? Because it doesn’t come out of the exhaust pipe while driving around and instead gets exhausted into the air in a static location? How is that cleaner?

No link,

a tech can give you 300000k miles, it doesn't matter if you can't scale it in manufacturing and make it cheap. lots of technology dies like that.

Potentially

call me when it reaches consumers and we know the price point

I unironically hope it happens. Electric cars in theory should be simpler and more reliable. Now to push for legislation that forces car makers to actually make them more modular and easier/cheaper to fix and we'll have the most reliable longest running cars ever.

It‘s fucking over for you, gasolinebros

Let's see Paul Allen's towing capacity.

You see, this is much better for PR. Because if the battery goes, there will be no witnesses, for everyone in the neighborhood will be dead.

the battery of the future has been 2-3 years away now for over 20 years

Checked and based. Cars are a good hobby and tool. They suck ass for mass transport.

i'll switch to electric once its proven that 5 year old cars can maintain 500 miles on a single charge

until then fuck off.

lmao
EV cucks know that everything special about ICE vehicles will never be genuine in an EV and absolutely have to try their hardest to fake being an ICE. Picrel.

Until there's a viable second hand market, there won't be any point getting invested. Only retards who need [current product] or think electricity just 'comes from the wall' buy them at the moment.

this is going to be over when we say so jew

Is the battery will last as long as the old 80’ thermal cars without complication?
I don’t think so

I know about all the disadvantages of elictric cars and I would never get one, but I'm thinking about buying an electric motocross bike as a toy, do you think it's a good idea? The alternative it's a 125cc bike. If I'm not wrong the electric bike has less maintenance and since it's silent boomers won't try to shoot me for riding near their property

I've seen mechanics bitching about batteries that went to shit because a couple of cells failed and there's no way to replace them and they have to change the whole thing, that could be fixed by regulators maybe....

It's about fucking time.
I hate replacing my gas tank ever 5 years.
Expensive as fuck too.

Battery died

Cheaper to buy a new ev

And how bad are these new batteries going to be for the environment? Also now you don't just have gasoline cars to cycle out you have EVs which you introduced. Which are already worse for the environment but people stubbornly stuck with anyways.
Fucking kek humans can be so retarded.

This lol, it will be a decade at least if they ever allow the goyim to go that far/long.

First off the emissions are further away from where people actually live. Second, it’s easier for a large company to keep a giant facility running at peak efficiency than it is for a bunch of poor normalfags to keep their car engines running well and clean. Third, just by the nature of how power plants work it’s always more efficient than the stop/go/idle/variable rpm bullshit cars are forced into.

Why not just bring up jets retard

In a car engine, a much larger share of the energy generated by burning gas is lost, wasted when it transitions to heat energy instead of kinetic energy. Fossil fuel plants burn with the efficiency of scale, spinning turbines at a consistent rate instead of stopping/spinning up again every time you hit a red light. So a gallon of fuel burned in a plant, converted to electricity and sent to a car battery results in more mpg compared to burning a gallon in a car engine

Lastly, there's the additonal emissions curbed by the savings in logistics. Obviously it takes energy and emissions are generated constantly by drilling for oil. Then it takes more energy/emissions to transport the crude oil to a refinery.

Then it there'st the energy/emissions cost of refining the oil. From there it can be burned in a power plant where it can finally pay off by being converted to electricity. Or, we can take the extra step of refining it to gasoline and transporting it once again to your fuel pump, costing even more energy and emissions

Hence even without green energy, EVs reduce net demand for fossil fuels

reliable ICE vehicles

Everything in an electric car is much more reliable than an ICE.

3000 miles

Bullshit.

Now show me the transmission and conversion energy losses from the system for every step between the power plant and the vehicle.

one of my fat onions relatives has one of those new electrics. It literally nags him for not keeping his eyes perfectly forward when driving. Gay as fuck.

The energy would be stored in chemically stable batteries over a large unit. a handgranade‘s explosives charge is small.

Electric car batteries last 15 to 20 years now because they have proper thermal management systems which smartphones and other small electronics do not. The nissan leaf has no thermal management at all so their batteries all died in a few years

I'm old enough to remember when electric vehicles were just cool, not green or leftist or anything like that. Why can't we go back to them just being cool? I love electric cars because they're cool tech. I don't care if they're green or not, I just like em. Fuck you.

This is the most reddit thing I'll read on here all week.

This is one reason why I'm invested in Silicon.
It's the next battery tech step and already in use at an increasing rate.
Whether it's going to be silicon-lithium or silicon-graphite remains to be seen, but the anode will be made out of silicon and already entering the market.
It's way more resilient regarding charging cycles, has higher capacity and doesn't really give a fuck about cold.
It's not 5x the capacity though, at the moment it's like 40% larger but the new tech is still in it's infancy.

As a EV car owner it has both upsides and downsides
Upsides

not as expensive in Norway due to government incentives

Established EV charging infrastructure in Norway

Fuel is basically free

cheaper tolls

Downsides

shit range

shit resell value

Takes forever to charge, you have to plan when you want to charge

Battery slowly degrades over charging cycles

The main hurdles the EV market has to cross is battery capacity, battery life time, and battery replacement as well as infracture.

haha niggers been promising shit like 30 seconds charge. unlimited charges with no degrading, million mile batteries since like forever kek. none of them have ever happened.

mfw people think lithium batteries from 1970s are something new

Wtf a battery just flew over my house!

He won't and we all know why.

I'll admit it. I'm one of those guys who drives a pickup truck with a gasoline engine. Yes it has a manual transmission. I know, I know... I should probably trade it in for an electric vehicle, but there's so many things unique to petrol powered that I like. Actually getting down to brass tacks here, it IS in fact partly an electric vehicle as it has an alternator and big electric battery to power certain features like head lamps, windshield wipers, starting motor, heater fan, and sound system. Sure it's pricey to fill with fuel, but it doesn't take very long, unlike charging an EV, and I can be fairly certain of how much range I'll get from a full tank. I could take my pickup on a week-long excursion and use it to charge all my devices plus even power a slow cooker with it using an inverter. Would you feel comfortable using an EV to power a slow cooker on a camping trip when you've got to drive fifty km home? Furthermore, my current GF left her last boyfriend BECAUSE he was obsessed with his EV.

leftroons have decided that they don't like EVs anymore for some unknown reason, so they wont adopt this.

Promises

Potentially

Mhm, and is the promise in the room with us now?

They still love EV's they just think Musk is le heckin nazi now.

Planned obsolescence is baked into everything nowadays. Doesn’t change the fact that from an engineering point of view electric vehicles are mechanically much more reliable. The whole thing only needs a handful of moving parts to work. The only real glaring point of failure on an electric car, that rivals the unreliability of ICEs, is the battery; but it’s a lot easier to slap a new battery in an EV than it is to drop an engine and transmission in an ICE. Not only that, with the right infrastructure EVs wouldn’t even need large batteries, they could get power wirelessly through the road.

fpbp

3000 miles is nice, but tell me how long that charge is going to be, and where I can find that charge in rural Arkansas.

This means gas will become incredibly cheap again. So I'd say we're just getting started.
Vroom, vroom!

i will only believe that when i saw jews using those "electric" cars.

It's only 3 years away for the last 20 years like solid state batteries.

Electronic vehicles are mechanically much more reliable.

Absolute braindead take and wrong. Good ICE designs are 250+ years of constant innovation.

A diesel-powered 1980s-1990s Toyota techical can be repaired by 78iq congolese and run to more than a million miles.

No one wants an overpriced and overly complicated shitbox that ties them to electrical SmartCity grids. Pitch your faggoty future elsewhere.

Just like practical fusion power is always 20 years away.

Now tell us Lithium is better for the environment.

Have they solved the issue where large amounts of silicone cause the battery to swell? Tesla can only add small amounts to their batteries because of this.

Alion Spot.jpg - 500x404, 49.73K

Didn't that happen to that one guy was going to name names and point fingers? His car just accelerated into a tree uncontrollably. I remember someone then found a patent for a device in electric vehicles that did exactly that.

EVs reduce net demand for fossil fuels

yeah, and it's so easy for a bunch of normalfags to keep their glorified gocarts running in tip top shape too, right? Let's also ignore that battery will need to be replaced in 5-10 years at an average cost of 20,000 dollars. get fucked lol

average EV depreciation in one year ~40%

lol

If you’re worried about that ( I am too) you should also be worried about the heavy metals ICE deposit in populated areas. If nothing else, switching to EV would mean people in the suburbs could eat the stuff they grow in their yards.

they dont cost $20k and there are teslas from 2013 still running their original battery packs. Imagine how long a modern LFP pack will last

Recently, professors Soojin Park and Youn Soo Kim from Pohang University of Science & Technology (POSTECH) collaborated with professor Jaegeon Ryu at Sogang University to tackle silicon's drawbacks. Their team developed an innovative binder material that effectively prevents silicon from swelling during charging. This crucial development allows batteries using silicon anodes to safely store ten times more energy than those relying on graphite.

This is nowhere close to a breakthrough yet

Then why did you respond to me in the first place when I was asking some other guy why I should care about carbon emissions? Next time just dont insert yourself in the comment chain to go "yeah my point isnt even relevant" like 3 posts later. Fucking retards I swear.

I'm retarded, nice catch. So like 25 Hand grenades.

EVs are already superior to gas vehicles, the problem is infrastructural with most apartment/condo complexes not having charging stations installed yet

Even if it's 10,000 miles, the charging and battery replacement are still the big issues. If my car runs out of gas, that can be fixed in seconds. Can't do that with electric and if you have brownouts like most of the US had at some point in the last year, you are toast. Electric also has all the usual issues cars have plus the battery.

For electric cars to be a thing, they have to cost like $5,000 at most and we are a long way from that happening. They are also going to have to figure out how charging stations can be used in more compact environments and we are a long way from that.

Check

Silicon

Battery

Explain yourself

I wouldnt mind driving an EV if they made one that did have giant gay ipad shit for everything and also wasnt also capable of audio and video recording you and could be shut off remotely if you voiced any criticism of Zionisim or Isreal

But they wont

That sounds like bullshit to me.
I mean gasoline has an energy density of 45 MJ/kg, whereas current batteries operate between 0.5 and 0.7 MJ/kg. And batteries are pretty close to the maximum energy density that can be extracted without combustion. They are not getting 10x better, i don't see how that is possible. But let's say it is, and they can work at an energy density of 5-7 MJ/kg. That is still a 5th of petrol. So weight by weight, a gas tank would still be 5x better, and is 50x better as it stands now.
Electric. Will. Never. Be. Better. We will keep using petrol cars for the rest of eternity, because it works and we have a century of progress and innovation in and infrastructure for it.

yes, it's pretty frightening to see the current ones burn. interesting times ahead.

DC motors produce maximum torque at 0rpm, that's why the acceleration is so good.
I don't own one and don't have plans to, but I think they'd probably go ok towing.

Electric doesn't have to have better energy density than petrol, it only has to have enough that your average consumer doesn't have to worry about the range on their car

only 1/3 of the energy in the gasoline becomes mechanical work. batteries only need 500wh/kg to be competitive in all transport sectors.

You say that like the two are not related. At the current energy density, batteries allow for an average range of 250 miles. To increase this you need better batteries, which are not really possible.
And remember, that goes down significantly with the weight of the vehilce, so electic is useless for transport and construction.
So 45 x 0.333 = 15, where as electic motors are around 85% efficient, which means at current 0.6 x 0.85 = 0.51. Bensine is still 30 times better. But if somehow they did make batteries 10x better, which they didn't because that is thermodynamically impossible, petrol is still 3x better.
Not to mention that filling a petrol car takes around 30 seconds, and the infrastructure needed is a big fucking tank with a pump. Whereas for EVs you need hours to charge and expensive, dangerous high power cables for charging, and infrastructure that is entirely missing, and would cost trillions to build nation wide, and would be impractical as fuck and still wouldn't allow you to charge your car fast.

it works fine in china

For personal transport, to some extent, yes. In a nation of bugmen...
But not for transport or construction, and not for long distance travel. It works for people going to work in the morning, and going home in the evening.

they already make house sized mining trucks that are battery powered

100 charge cycles @ 3,000 mile range is still 300k miles which is respectable for a non-diesel, though maybe not for electric.
The battery tech is still most likely vaporware and, at best, won't be commercially available for 2+ years.

Nope. They are hybrids. Gasoline generator driven electric motors. The benefits are instantaneous torque that gas engines can't do.

not green

Only 18.4% of electricity in the EU in May came from fossil fuels.
Down from 32.1% in 2022.

tenfold increase

So ten times the energy capacity. Right now, the batteries are around 90kWh. So they're suggesting 900kWh. The largest chargers available for home are 19.2 kW. So it's going to take about 2 days just to fully charge this battery. And if all your neighbours got these as well, your electrical grid would simply collapse.

Yeah yeah, heard this shit before. I want to see it for myself, until then it's all bullshit.

Electric production in USA in 2023: 4178 TWH

Conservative electric vehicle efficiency: 3 miles / KWH.

Total vehicle miles travelled in USA: 3.3 Trillion miles. (fred.stlouisfed.org/series/M12MTVUSM227NFWA)

electricity needed to travel said number of miles: 3.3 Trillion / 3 = 1.1 Trillion KWH = 1100 TWH

So you need to expand your electricity generation and grid capacity by 26%.
Napkin math, it isn't hard.

If this had a mechanical clutch you could disengage with your foot, sure.

Would make it a lot harder for the Jews to take control over your vehicle and kill you and those around you.

This, I would sure enjoy 3,000 miles.

These retarded silicon valley fucks.
They already tried shit and it fails.

I drive a 2024 Ford F150 Lightning Lariat at work.
It supposedly has a range of 240 miles on full charge.
And supposedly a 5000 lbs tow capacity.
In practice, its range is actually 205 miles on a full charge.
In ANY WEATHER below 32F, its range drops drastically.
Like 36 miles becomes 75% of a charge.
Meaning roughly 50 miles on a max charge.
With towing absolutely nothing.
At a full tow of 5000 lbs, the range is actually 140miles roughly.
In anything below 32F, that range becomes 35 miles.
And the area I live, we have sub 32F temps for 8 months a fucking year.
This will never work and never be as how they describe.

So I expect that the 3,000 miles they think? Probably gonna be more like 2500 in ideal conditions. Towing will reduce range by 10 to 30%. Suboptimal charging will reduce range. Charging above 80% will stress the battery and reduce range. Temperatures under 32F will reduce the range by up to 65%. High speeds reduce range. Quick acceleration or hard breaking reduces range. Inclines reduce range. AC usage reduces range. DC charging vs. lvl 2 charging reduces range. Are your tires not perfectly inflated? Reduced range due to rolling resistance. In practice that 2500, is gonna drop even farther.

Thirdly, the majority of EV's are made in china who still can't make anything worth a shit, if they can't even make an RC car parts that won't randomly explode then I'm sure as shit not trusting them with a real car.

Imagine the explosions.

i trust the army, if the army didnt switch to electric there's a reason for it.

Imagine a battery fire where it is releasing 3000 miles of energy.

Mercedes is currently track testing Solid State batteries, which have a longer charge, do not burst into flame, and charge faster.

Even if ever bit of this is true, a fraction of 3000 miles is still incredible. Even half that in adverse conditions is amazing.

EVs and even hybrids cause cancer for the same simple reason you don’t live under power lines you can’t sit on top of 6,000 laptop batteries worth of electromagnetic radiation.

How big are the explosions & how long do the fires last?

Yeah, but I get erections without taking any pills and don't fancy taking stuff in my bum, so I'll stick with diesel and petrol. Cheers for the info, though.

Just changed the oil on my 21 year old pickup KYS EV cucks

Is the tech stable or burny/explody like they the current ones? I'll take up electric once solid state is a thing, don't want to be sitting on top of a giant chemical incendiary bomb on my way to drop the kids at school thanks.

There's something fucking hilarious about cuckservatives who are rampant in this very thread who are literal luddites opposed to every important innovation on planet earth, and then they'll jump into another thread crying why China is eating our lunch and crying about big tech being jewish led etc etc.
It's pretty obvious that EV's are the future and yet the only denial comes from rightoids who love their big RAM trucks because there's some parasitic attachment to the right from low IQ country fuckers

promises

blah blah blah, we've been hearing this bullshit for past 20 years, same as back on the moon by 2020

Your government will just tell you to buy EV and you VVILL buy it.

You're trying to explain this to backwards hicks. All of the arab oil states are pivoting right now to a tourism based economy and you have dumb fucks in here thinking MUH OIL is still going to be relevant in 20 years it boggles my fucking brain how white people want to stay irrelevant

this. amount of amps required to charge anything like that under 10 min would set cities on fire considering how many EV charge at the same time all over the city. now I am wondering if all those Great Fires back in a day were because of shit like that

As with all EV improvements: First seeing the believing.
Because that shit has been lacking the genuine revolutionary improvements it needs for over a century now.

Nah, I am alright. I truly believe you have no idea what you are talking about. Over COVID I shagged more than at any time in my life... the government told me to stay in my house, and I just went around and visited lonely birds... so many lonely birds.
The government saying something doesn't mean as much as you think.

Yeah but I cant render normalfags into biodiesel during the apocalypse if i have an EV. I'll stick with my truck.
Eat up little piggies.

I have solar panels and batteries to charge my electric truck

I've got a 10K lbs trailer I'd like to see your pavement princess "truck" pull.

What happened to the hydrogen cars?

Its rated for that, the range is 400 miles so even in the worst case scenario where thats cut in half I can still get 200 miles
hydrogen cars are retarded because instead of having to produce 1/3 of the energy like a BEV you need to produce 4x as much to make the hydrogen it runs on

They liked to explode.

Its rated for that

No it isn't or you would let us know what magical unicorn you are driving. My guess is 4200 is pushing it and your range would go down to double digits in any kind of hill country.
An electric truck is just an ornament made to do nothing more than the occasional run to Home Depot.

EV is the car of the white man

Then why is every Tesla I see driven by a jeet or a libshit white woman?

you need better batteries, which are not really possible.

This whole thread is about battery tech that is promising much higher energy density. There's a lot of research going into batteries right now so it wouldn't be a big surprise if someone figured out how to make high density batteries

Fpbp

They've been promising us magical battery technology that never materializes since the early 2000s if not earlier.

it's not profitable for batteries to last long, goy. just like it's not profitable to heal you rather than threat your symptoms

chevy silverado ev

buying into electric cars while theyre stupid expensive and no roads with self powering/charging integrated

NGMI

all evs struggle with 300

oy vey, the tech is here for over 3000, trust me bro

wake me up when it's real.

run over a nickle

wreck

die

Many such cases. Take pretty much any industry and there's always startups in early r&d phases that announce they have just revolutionized that industry. Science sites love sensationalizing the claims too because clicks = ad revenue. 99% of these claims fizzle out and are never heard about again.

fpbp

Battery tech has hardly advanced in the last decades due to chemical limitations. That kind of development would be absurdly groundbreaking for everything beyond fucking electric cars. I'll believe it when I see it.

sick bait homie
