Russian tanks are near-worthless against a competent military. We demonstrated this during Desert Storm and Russia is still using now the tanks that utterly failed the Iraqis then. But their doctrine relies heavily on tanks being able to draw fire and provide close fire support so they don't have any choice but to keep throwing them into the grinder until they run short.
